Im thinking you guys think i got caught while being disqualified.

What happened, was i got hit for 45k and over in nov.

The ticket never went through, as in i havn't had anything sent to my house etc.

The cop on sun said that as well, "ure lucky it didnt go through on our systems", yet he knew about it, so i take it must be listed on the police internal systems (?) eg when they log calls?

So i was never *offically* suspended, and now i got hit with this.

Clear things up at all?

i know a detective that recently got a new partner from the traffic branch (prob same as Highway Patrol for eastern states) and he says that his new partner has got the total wrong attitude for policing, he said that, whenever she sees a hotted up car, no matter how it is being driven, she automattically wants to go and pull it over, and defect it, he has told her numerous occasions to pull her head in or go back to traffic where they do that kind of thing, and thats coming from someone in the force.......

But there are alot of good cops out there and i must agree with what was said before, most of the time it is the older cops that are the reasonable ones, the young ones seem to be "badge happy", for an example, one time i got pulled over (not in a 'line) for a random breath test, by two cops, 1 old, 1 young, the young 1 was doing most of the work and the older one just seemed to be watching, i blew 0.0 in the RBT, and then he started to check the car out, on finding i had slightly bald tires, he said that he was going to defect me, on him saying this, the older cop has stepped in and said " there is no need for that, he can just come to the station in no more than 1 week and show me that he has put new tires on" i was very shocked that this happened, but at the same time happy and had alot of respect for the older cop for giving someone a chance and not just jumping straight into a work order as the younger one was going to do, and within the week i did go and present my car to him with some new rubber and that was it, all sweet, thats one reason why i have more respect for the older ones, it seems the older ones dont let the badge go to their head.......

My 2c worth (more like $10 it was so long, sorry) ;)

Cam.

hahhaha.

in vic stay away from dandenogn area they are runnign operation "Armageddon" which is doing random roadworthy checks most nights till late from tue - sat.

also a traffic management cop jsut got busted for stealings goods from a stolen car seems no one is above the law.

in vic 50 police under investigation from offences ranging from drugs to child pornography.

also seen a TMU vehicle first hand enter a racetrack without organisers permission proceed to do a high speed lap of the track and crash causing extensive damage. all this captured on home video and sold to channel 7 news... needless to say the person involved was made to pay back the damages and demoted to constable. I have also seen numerous marked and ummarked cars speeding for no reason running red lights doing illegal u turns and was nearly hit on the freeway one night by an unmarked Xr8 doing 180kmh or so with no lights on trying to catch someone doing perhaps five kms over the limit. talking on mobile phones four in the back of a Falcon not wearing seatbelts and then they give us a canary for a roadworthy well maintained vehicle while cars are getting stolen....

rant off.

  • 1 month later...

Since having got my licence 18 months ago, I have been hassled. In oe car we got pulled over numerous times. The first was exceeding the speed limit (I was driving a Skline, what you expect) and they discovered bald tyres on the back. The same cop then yellowed the car 5 days later. He then pulled the car over to 'check' the yellow. He then went to pull me over about another 2 days lata when he discovered it was this car again. He had proceeded to go straight. I had turned off, knowing he would pull me over, he went straight. I then went back to the road I was on when I seen him go flying past with his sirens on. Then another week lata he pulled me over AGAIN to 'check' the yellow was still current. I in my whole life, have got 1 speeding fine. Why he was after me I don't know. I had even changed the plates when he called to say that he knew we had changed them. I have now got the Corolla and so for haven't seen him since. Maybe because I took his badge number and threatened to report him for harrassment. Who knows?

Boostzor - take a look at the photo buddy, I drive a 200sx not a 'line - but I appreciate your point.

Some good points made so far on this forum.

A comment was made by one of the chicks on the forum "I bat my eyelids and they leave me alone" just goes to show the discrimination by the police force. Why should girls bat and eyelid, show some tits etc and get away from an infringement? Where guys have to "cop it sweet". Somehow I don't think that batting my eyelids, of showing some leg would get me off a fine :D lol

I recognise that the majority of mod car drivers are male, but that's not to say that there aren't heap of chicks too...

A friend of mine (typical blond californian babe) got pulled over speeding (not an import), flirted a bit, and one of the coppers let her off after she gave him her phone number. The no of times I've heard stories like this just defies me.

I guess, it just sh*ts me that different rules apply. if a cop is going to pin a male for something, then he should pin a girl just the same.

Anyways, life isn't fair, so not going to rant on anymore about it.

Got to say, since I have calmed down my driving style (due to dodgy clutch) I have been left alone. I don't want to get it fixed now cause once I replace it harrassment might start again :)

Guest brownyr31

well i have known people to have been pulled over for suspect of holding drugs (when they dont even do them) just so the cops could pull them over and defect them. they need a reason to pull u over and defect you so they make up some bullshit reason. my friends wern't even driving fats, they were going to work

Go live in dubai. you can get skylines for F**k all and max them out. if you get caught you get a $25 dollar fine. i love the laws in australia. though stupid!!! the road toll for one year in some states only accounts for a month in such cities. and yes yellowstickers r shit but compare a drift spec 180sxin japan and a lancer with cut springs in oz. one serves a purpose and one........

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
