Why Won't It Work?

Hi all,

I've just recently rebuilt my RB25DET and put the engine in the other night.. When I fired up the engine, it all worked fine except the power steering doesn't work at all!!

I obviously hooked up the belt and when I start the engine, I can see the power steering fluid bubbling (seems like air) when I start the engine.

What is wrong? Can over tightening the belt caus any problems??

I don't know much about power steering, but double check all connections are tight. You might have knocked the pump when putting the engine back in?

Yeah, checked all.. seems ok... I'm not sure if and how air got into the line... I haven't taken it apart at all... weird.. maybe the move stuffed it......

have you reconnected the speedo? (if you ever disconnected it at all)... if there is a disconnection here, then you will find you don't have any power steering...

Have you bled the system ??

Fairly easy - jack up the front end until both wheels are off the ground, then with the engine running turn the steering wheel from lock to lock say half a dozen times making sure the reservoir has fluid to the recommended level. Put car back on the ground and test drive.
