Heya Dudes

Am going to have a few thousand $$$$ to throw at the Ceffie come Feburary :( and after hunting around for best prices / parts, I am starting to confuse myself which is the better mod & is it a good price

This is what I want / need done -

1. Coilpacks - mine are FCUKED

2. FMIC, 600x300x75 core & custom piping

3. Coilovers

4. Oil Cooler & Catch Can

5. Strut Braces

6. Bov

7. Turbo Timer

Got some other little things like guages etc to come but yeah was wondering what parts / mods u guys would be doin with $5K. Be mindful thou it is being built for Drift purposes :( Not a show pony ;)

My thoughts are the first 5 items are a neccesity but hey open to suggestions.

Cheers fellas,

Ando

i have now done coilovers 8k front and 6k rear, front and rear adjustable swaybars and front and rear strut braces......massive difference compared to stock setup. Probably a little stiff for normal cruising .....might take the strut braces out so the car chasis does some of the damping! ..ahha......its not too bad and im getting used to it now. I can now definately chuck it around corners likes its on rails but at the moment its has little too much over steer so i can also get the back out quite easily.

But yea back to urs

do coilovers and swaybars and strut braces

Not sure if the catch can is really necessary

do the fmic

coilpacks

but yea the first 5 seem good

i wouldnt worry about the turbo timer though ........just leav the car running longer ......

oh yea mustnt for get the s2 tailights ......gotta have those so ur car looks cool drifting around the track ! seriously they do look really good !

whats been done to ur car so far?

Edited by Resin

Thanks for the info dudes....

Resin - Mate coilovers & coilpacks are a given.....I will be buying all these bits at 1 time. I was thinking pretty much get the FMIC, Oil Cooler, Coilpacks and Coilovers installed in one hit. Suppose with the turbo timer but i am a little lazy a CBF waiting around :(

All i got on mine atm is a air filter.....exhaust & roll cage / stripped interior....pretty stocko but hey its all about the progress

As Konect said, what swaybars & braces u running....Whiteline??

Cheers

Ando

i have s13 front and rear adjustable whiteline swaybars.

and a a31 front juran strut brace and an r32 rear brace

Coilovers are jic majic flt-a2 - for an s13...fully adjustable with camber tops on front......i got the manual that came with them and it says the a31 should have 10k front and 8k rear .........but f**k that would be hard! ...!

Agree with top 1,3,4,5 .. no need for bov. Stocker is fine. Just sit with ur car for a few mins after a hammering instead of turbo timer.

If it's heading for dori suspension is ur main concern. You will need rear camber arms. Coilovers should come with front camber adjustment. Castor arms are a very good idea too. Alloy Cradle bushes a must for the price. Also get it up on a hoist too check the condition of all the bushes and replace (in pairs) any that are rooted.

I would suggest a mechanical diff is more important than a front mount tho. At least a re-shim on the standard diff if you are bored with power and really want one a front mount.

Also "turbotech" boost controller and aftermarket metal cat if ur looking for cheap power upgrades. (if you don't have them already)

Cheers,

Jarryd

I would do in this...

Coilpacks, as you need them anyway.

Coil air induction to your air filter this alone you will notice.

Fuel Pressure regulator, and fuel pump.

Boost, bleed valve or whatever.

Obviously all your suspension stuff, personally tho, I wouldnt go too low, if you dont do that then you dont need rear camber. Keeping it higher means the suspension can still work the way it was intended, meaning you should have more control. With rear cradel bushes, stiff as suspension and sway bars roll shouldnt be an issue, just keep it up.

Diff, 2way or 1.5 way.

Oil cooler for sure, only go the catch can as well if you get one that works, ie, has baffels, is plumbed back etc.

FMIC, if you got the money yeah do it, if not just get an R34 side mount, and get ducting made up for it. Its also less of a chance it will get damanged.

Id also do a brake fluid chang to something decent, and get better pads and rotors.

BOV, DO NOT DO IT. But get a screw or something and plug the little bleeder hole in the stock one.

RB25 R33 or R34 turbo, this will help obviously, also with cooling.

And Id say get a chip on there too, the Dr Drift ones are bloody good value, so Id look in to that.

If you buy smart, you should have a good $1k left for some tyres :(

My thoughts anyway.

Tar heaps for all the advice as it is greatly appreciated!

Resin - Thanks for the heads up on the swaybars and strut braces

Daveo - Appreciate the run down

Drift Limo - Thanks also with ur input. Yeah mate no stock bov....nothing at all on the Ceffie. She looses too much boost in bewteen gear changes as the pressure isnt getting released and heading straight back onto the turbo.... :P so i'm thinking just a stock one welded onto custom piping.

Hmmmm let the spending begin!! :P

Cheers,

Ando

I have the elbow piece with a bov on it already if ur gonna be keeping the stock cooler ;)

Cheers Konect! Will keep the offer in mind but i think the FMIC will be going on, thus providing piping for a BOV.

Daveo - I don't plan to crash! But that doesnt mean some other mofo aint gonna hit me!

Ando

Mate i wouldn't worry bout a bov, i tried a stock r32 bov and crossover pipe, but i think it was leaking, so i went back to stock.

Just flat change you'll loose no boost if you dont shut the throttle :)

I also run a flipped round s14 strut brace, which will clear a bov if you do use one

i have s13 front and rear adjustable whiteline swaybars.

f*kC YEH !

Just having a look around on SAU as wanna do a 5 stud conversion & came across these -

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
