Last night i was defected so i cant drive the car untill i get it cleared.but it can be driven to and from clearing points.

The non standard exhaust is all they got me for.

Do you know the deal with defects, like, can i wack the standard exhaust back on and go for the test or do i have to take it to the clearer and get it tested first like it was when i was fined. And then recive a fine and then go to get it cleared with the stock exhaust??

Also it has to be epa tested and db tested.

Cheers

Craig.

has any1 else just swapped the exhaust ova and had it tested and cleared.Does it have to be left on or dont thet care if the exhaust is changed.

I just thought it would have to be tested as is at the time of fine. But if i can do that then great.

Do i have to make a booking at the rta to get the emissions test?do i get a prioitory spot because i have to have a defect cleared?Becasue when i got the blu slip for the car i had to wait 28 days to go.Im calling them early 2mozz to make a booking.

non-standard? Can they really do you for that? What if yours broke, and it was replaced with something made at an exhaust shop, because there are no more genuine spares left?

I thought they could only defect you if they suspect that yours is too loud? In which case you must go and get it tested, and clear the defect.

Doodz.It was at bankstown.

hmmm seems like that place is a magnet for defects, same place and some defect, someone (sau forum member too). got defected for loud exhaust.

maybe there is just one cop/hwy car there who likes giving em out.

Craig,

wat did I tell you... i keep saying it over and over again... i got done for my exhaust 3 times... third time facing up to $33000 in fines. as soon as you have aftermatket exhaust, they will get you for it and take you to EPA!!!

hence, i been runnig the stock exhaust system all this time.

That s sucks man~~

i left the shell and went back home , didn t know such thing happen...

last time i got defected for my parkers, i only hav 3 days which include the weekend, and i think i did blue slip at my friend 's work shop , i think u can go workshops that got RTA permission to do blue (or pink ?i forgot) slip , after u get the slip , then u go to RTA dont need to booking just wait in the Q , should be a local workshop who does it , i know the one near chatswood, what area u from?

It is too loud.I went to livo xhaust at blu slip time last year, and they were going to charge me a small fortune for 3'' zorst and appropriate mufflers.1k or there abouts.

So i might just drive arround with a silencer in the zorst.I am going to look for one cause i dont have 1 yet.if not i'll just get 1 made.

Last year i got a letter in the mail form the EPA saying an officer had 'suspected' my car was over the 90db limit..I was never pulled over which makes it harder to take..but anyways, i got a test done at a local exhaust shop, measured 96 at 5000rpm. Went back to them a few days later with some restriction baffle plates i made up and it measured 91db..the very kind exhaust shop guy filled out the appropriate paperwork saying it was 89. Used this paperwork and paid my $60 fee or whatever it was and thats it. Took the restriction plates out that same day. I did make a thread on here about it.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
