OK, so if I don't want my GTR getting owned by insurance, I was thinking of just dropping a 26dett into a GTS-T and leaving all the badges the same :D slightly more sleeper.

has anyone here done this conversion and what was you cost of engine by itself and also total cost at end of conversion (I was thinking i could easily sell the 20det or whatever and that would pay for conversion costs with the motor coming out of my pocket).

Thanks :(

Ok mate, thought all this one out before as I wanted to do it! Workshops have qouted around 11 to 13g for everything drive in drive out. Less selling your motor etc. To do myself at home with mates an halfcut was going to cost $8500! That was for an R33 GTR halfcut mind you! Bit of mucking around with sump conversion, engine mounts, wiring etc etc! So it is expensive! By the time you work it out it will prob be cheaper to just get an GTR!

Its pretty impossible to sell a complete rb20 these days.. not too much demand.

Just sell it to a CA18DE-equipped Silvia owner.

You won't get much for it, since the only guys who install RB20's into S13s are people who think that it'll cost them less than an SR20, but at least you'll get something.

so you are doing this conversion to get cheap iunsurance?

and you don't plan to tell the insurance company that you have an RB26 in your gtst?

you don't think that they can tell when you smash it and they use the jaws of life to cut your bonnet off to see an RB26dett smiling at them?

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
