lol you love to resurrect ancient threads terry!

When i came on board, i was told to search bozodoz hehe

Ah well, it's silly season now - so i'm safe

Still, I can't recall ever having bought a car from a female owner who didn't have gutter rash on the rear onside wheel or hubcap :(

Frist post in this thread summed it up pretty well.

I liked the comments of the women who took 70 odd seconds to park "well its the rule that the people behind have to wait". Being about to reverse park is part of getting your frigging licence.

Well I managed to buy my R32 with 3 rashed TE37s (WTF were they thinking!?) and that was off a man :S

that said I can't stand my gf's driving, two feet auto driver, rolls to a stop with the clutch in and not downshifting etc

if you did a search on me you'd probably find a lot of quality input :D

when i got lessons i got told to brake and not downshift cos when you make the engine break for you it wears it out

so id brake then look at the speed and change gear to what is suitable

had someone at a driver training course (you know, basic one that they send you off to in grade 12) that told us to put the clutch in to break. Whatever dude.

Had a driving instructor tell me that you should always put the handbreak button in when pulling it in to stop wear, that gave me a good laugh.

SO your braking with the clutch out :) Is it in gear as well??

Its what i've always been told to do by parents/friends/everywhere else i've seen, apart from these blokes.

Ya...are u for real dude or having a lend of me

3 ways i would slow a normal car

1. knock it out of gear & brake...

2. clutch in and brake

3. downchange gears and brake

All of which involve clutching, in an auto you need brakes to slow the engine, but in a manual the engine slows itself when the clutch is in...do most people you know drive autos by any chance

lolz well i've always seen drivers being taught to downshift properly when driving a manual, and I've seen one owner cars which have clocked over half a million kays been always driven like that - trust me it's bullshit (unless you're in an auto in which case you wouldn't use the gears to slow down).

I only ever clutch when I'm crawling, then put it back to first after I come to a halt, that is how pretty much everyone I know apart from my GF drives.

For example imagine how much longer it would take a semi trailer to stop if old mate truckie just clutched in and used the brakes!

Its not illegal to have things dangle from your rear view mirror...

Nor is it to indicate right when going straight through roundabout, at least their brain is switched on.

Aside from single vehicle stupidity in carparks from the industry most common accidents seem to be: (in no particular order)

- Someone running into rear of slower or stationary person in front of them on road

(hate people who hit someone cause the person in front went then stopped then you hit their rear? learn to give enough space to stop fk head, yes even when you are stopping behind nobs)

- Carpark dmg from a door or reversing then leaving the scene (these people are big f**kheads)

- Opening their stopped car's door in front of traffic (yes you have to give way to the moving cars and are at fault)

- Reversing full stop causes accidents cause people dont think

- Turning right to beat oncoming traffic

Pet hates on the road:

- Tailgating ($75-100 fine in qld)

- sunday driving (there is a fine for going too slow)

- hesitation

- right hand lane blockers

- not indicating

- teenagers in sports cars (good for our business though)

- people who've been driving for 15-50 years and think they are awesome when they drive like shit

FYI if you were reversing into a park and someone ran into the back of you, you would be at fault =P

I thought it was a fine for having things dangling from your rear view. As well a fine for having things loose on the dashboard as it is deemed as a distraction. I was under the impression that it was a fine for each piece you have on the dash.

I was also under the impression that if a speed camera is setup in a 100kmph zone and you do 100kmph it won't take your picture. Why is it no other dirver thinks that way and slows down to 80kmph ?

Well id considerer anything under 100 crawling anyway :)

Thats perfectly good way to drive if you can be f**ked, i would usually stop this way to,especially if i need to stop quick but have the time i just cant be assed

so i knock it to neutral and roll..think youll find a lot of truckies do to, ya left leg gets damned tired after driving all day

Remembering too that a cars brake to weight ratio is a lot better than that of a truck

By right you do mean left, right? Is your brain switched on?

Pet hate....people not giving way to let you reverse park,,grrrrrrrrr

Another pet hate.....people that slow down when a policeman has already pulled somebody over, not like their suddenly gunna leave the person they have pulled over for you..Flip em the bird...... :)

actually doozooby I've seen them do just that that many times you wouldn't believe. Usually if they have had me or someone else over for the usual harassment or defectathon, and some wankers go racing past, or someone starts lighting em up at the next lights they will chuck the licence back n tear off for some good ol fashioned impoundings!

Yeah but your talking extremes there...Im talking on freeways everyone sitting on 100 they will all slow to 90 disturbing the whole flow..

Same as what was said about slowing down for speed cameras

Just throwing in my 2c about driver education or lack of (note-I live in a town of 5000). I passed my p's after half an hour of cruising at 60 and finished up with an angled park. I still dont park anywhere unless there are two bays because I cant reverse park and I didnt know how to turn right at a set of lights so figuring that out was fun .

As for boring drives, I drive pretty much straight to and from work for 40mins and each day with no one on the road and nothing but trees and farmland .I get drowsy and a few times have fallen asleep and woken up facing a tree.....not good for me. Now I buy a drink or food for the final stretch home, one can of red bull seems like cheap life insurance

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
