Ok guys pick a 2x 1gig stick pack that will run with the motherboard i picked above from the attached list :D

Or should I just get this bundle pack - http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prodVie...?idproduct=4513

Its the same mainboard but with OCZ PC4000 Gold GX XTC 2GB Kit (2x1GB 2048Mb) DDR500 ram included :P

my mate would and his pc keep rebooting every time he tried to play games so... i just buy faster parts rather than oc slower 1's to the faster speeds

Which is why you run the 3 programs I listed. It shows you were the limit of your hardware is without having to stumble around with reboots etc. :P

Usually reboots are caused by the ram, he was most likely running it way out of spec without enough voltage or the timings were too tight.

Push the cpu too hard and the system generally just locks, push the vid cards gpu too hard and it will lock, push the vid cards mem too hard and it will display artefacts, eventually leading to a lock. :D

Thats 'generally' how it works, do one thing at a time and individually so you know where the limits of that item are.

CPU, RAM then VID.

I'm not sure how that model of asus board overclocks. Head over to www.overclockers.com.au forum.

Basically you select the parts to suit each other.

If you want a feature rich motherboard such as the gigabyte then select pc3200 as the gigabytes in the 'past' are known for not being great overclockers.

ABIT, DFI and ASUS in the past have been awesome overclockers.

I'm all for overclocking.. I haven't had to upgrade my system in 3.5years it still is what I consider to have decent CPU power as it runs at 3200+ speeds. :P

If it were running at its stock speed of 2100+ well erm yer sloooooow.

Note I said in the past gigabyte were known for rich features but not so good overclock. still good but not as insane as some of the othes. :D

I have no idea where they are at now, I can't be buggered researching. :P

That Matts systems has a huge range of Motherboards.. A little exxy though.

RE: The Asus board.

This is a nice feature..

AI NOS™

Boost performance when you need it the most!

Applications such as 3D games and video editing demand a huge chunk of system resource. Inject "nitrous oxide" into your CPU! The patented AI NOS™ (Non-delay Overclocking System) technology intelligently detects system load and automatically boosts performance for the most demanding tasks. Unlike other dynamic overclocking techniques, AI NOS™ reacts much faster to satisfy your unending need for speeds .

Fast and furious style. lol

Well everyone.

Picked up my XBOX460 last night and so far i am very very impressed.

Having never owned an xbox before (i prefer japanese style games) i must say it is worth every dollar.

The new main menu system is so intuitive.

And now you can have multiple "gamer tags" what this means is when i use the 360 i load up my gamer tag and all my settings and everything are all done. So when i play a game i can only access my save data. So there is no confusion with my brothers as to who's save is who's.

Also i plugged my Ipod in the front with the USB and can listen to all the songs on it and control it all with the remote control which is awesom.

If anyone is thinking of getting one i would cos it's awesome.

I'm playing it through my parents 10 year old 51cm hitachi >_<, they have a sony 68 in the lounge and i have the old one.

It certainly looks better than ps2 or gamecube but my tv doesn't do it justice.

For 49 bucks though you can buy VGA cables for the 360 so i might just get that and run it through my 17inch LCD which will be much better.

I want to get a new tv but i'd rather spend the money on the car.

  • 1 month later...

Well i got the VGA cable and played through GRAW again and it's just amazing. Like playing a whole new game. The graphics are incredible. Well worth the money if anyone is thinking of picking on up.

Also i was thinking of getting a new graphics card but thought about it a bit and realised that with vista coming out end of the year or early next year with directx 10 i will probably be better off waiting till nvidia and ATi release dx10 compatible cards. Any thoughts?

yes i agree hold off until then but if u cant w8 just get a middle of the road card

i really wasnt blown away by GRAW i thought COD2 looks just as good if not better

the Crysis movies look good and is Dx10

Crysis 720p Trailer

I heard that vista wasnt all it was meant to be, according to some reviews on OCAU....i might stick with xp for now, and move over to vista later...

I cbf waiting for any new releases when buying my new comp gear in a couple of weeks. Something new is always coming, so whatever you buy will only last a certain amount of time anyway.

Yeah i can't imagine it being any worse.

I mean it'll be used in all new pc's and be in almost everyhome in the world with a computer so i can't imagine microsoft making it worse.

I'm buying it cos through dads work i can get it at corporate prices.

For example i got office 2003 last week for 100 bucks instead of retail of 280. Thats for profesional that is.

Also madaz i know COD2 has better graphics but i think the gameplay is much better in GRAW.

I finished COD2 on pc last year and i personally wasn't as blown away as when i played the first COD. Or more recently FEAR.

I have to agree.... FEAR is a half arsed decent game.

Definitely a different approach to a FPS.

I have the DVD version with an extra couple of vids on it, one of them is plain creepy, first time I saw it I had the head phones one watching, the creepy aspect of it made my spine tingle.

    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).
    • Car is on factory injectors/z32 maf/ q45 throttle body/ z32 ecu with nistune
    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
    • yeah I was shocked when I checked my spare OEM on and as below that's how they come from Nissan. (side interesting note new NEO gearbox and replacement park lack the brass bush on the tips and its just all alloy) unsure about damage to the box currently back at 1110 to be pulled down/inspected and selector fork replaced as he built it previously and given the never before seen failure on his billet forks he is replacing it under warranty. He said he has used always OEM the keyway tab without issue for years so it could be an unlucky coincidence. I did talk to him about the sharp corners and stress concentration too. Re: hard shifts i got 7+ years out of the OEM one and the fork itself failed not the keyway. so could be bad luck as I said or an age thing + heat cycles in box and during fabrication of billet?
    • That's some really horrible design with the way it's cut/shaped! Is there much damage to the box that failed in? IE, new fork and you can go again, or is it a total rebuild again? Id be trying to build that piece from scratch, and getting some reliefs added in the corner to hopefully stop breakage, and then swapping boxes ASAP, and then doing the same to the currently good working box. I'm assuming hard shifts have not been friendly to it!
