Ive been told the sli bridge connector can cause issues, and to try it all without it on.

will take out the "spare" ram chip tho, she's now on ebay 4sale lol.

will do memtest

got a fresh fdd to install tonight, and will update the bios (old fdd is broken)

will drill hole and install new fan over 2x video cards

cheers for the thoughts

heat probably isnt the issue, these things are designed to run at pritty hot temps

your saying that you get corrupted images in game, hence its related to the textures, textures are either kept in the GPU RAM or in system RAM, random reboots are normally caused by memory issues. but you must remember that the information has to get to and from the RAM somehow, this brings in both the CPU and motherboard into question as to what may possibly be wrong, and with the PC suffering a PUS failure either of these 2 are possible, however, because of the 3 sticks of ram im leaning towards ram...

but since the CPU is 2nd hand off of ebay, there is also a chance it is stuffed as well

on page 2-16 of the manual: P5N32-SLI Deluxe

it states that for dual channerl config, the total size of ram installed in each channel must be identical

and on page 2-18 it says, either 1 modlue in any slot for single channel, 1 pair of dimms in either chan a or chan b for dual channel or 4 match sticks for dual channel

so 3 sticks = incorrect memory configuration, and hence probably causeing all your errors!

:laughing-smiley-014:

cheers mate !

yeah, the cpu is my original from 2 years ago, new same as all the other components when I built the pc originally - although Im uprgading it with a new cpu soon (3.4 new, now 2yrs old, to 3.8 brand new).

the original video card was new 2 yrs ago, and added 2ndhad one a few months ago. both work fine stand alone. in sli mode the textures will only get corrupted under "heavy stress" such as an artillery strike drop right on my head in Battlefield2. Or the pc will shut down completely. Randomly. but only when under graphical duress.

2 of the 1gig ram is new (from when I bought the new mobo, then new psu a few months ago) but also was using 2 of the exact same type of 1gig ram that was 2 yrs old (took one out as it was touching the power supply cord to the mobo 24pin connector). so, I had 2 lots of 2gig matched ram (4 gig total), all the same model number, but took one out.

hence have had 3 gig in the machine being picked up as 2.12ghz (damn win xp pro). was going to go Vista to use the 4 gig properly, but have held off so far.

anyways, fixes. 1 gig for sale with my old mobo (100$ ebay is current bid), 1 gig for sale seperately ($35 ebay). so, I'll be back to 2 x 1gig sticks 533 ram which is only a cple months old.

yes, seems as if ram is most likely the problem. stupid me. I thought it would be fine to run 3 x 1gig sticks in liue of 4 x 1gig sticks where 1 stick was rubbed up against the psu supply cord to the mobo. safety first = stupid for ever.

grrrrrrr.

ive got a curly one my 2gb SD card wont format as a 2gb only 955mb

searched for days on google havnt found any fixes though

easy one! =P

the memory controller for SD cards is stored in the device itself, this means that if the device is cheap or old it may have a controler that can only see 1gb of the data (one reason why CF -compact flash- is better, as it has its memory controller onboard)... tryed it in several different devices?

i had it formatted from a Kodak camera was 2gb worked fine i deleted the pics but though i know ill format it also in the card reader and thats when it all went pear shaped

Madaz, sorry, cant help you with that ^^

will let you know mate when the cpu is available.....

Ummmm, lads and ladies, well what an experience.

After the sli issues with the 2 grafix cards I worked out it was in fact the sli bridge that was an issue. Took it off and whoila! However, I had the 2 7800gtx's on ebay, and they have sold, even got paid straight away. So, they are going to their new owner tonight, pity, but meh its done now.

also sold a box full of old ram, new ram, old motherboards, joystick, fans, old voodoo cards etc, got $550 in total for the two seperate sales.

so, Ive put up 2 gig (1gb sticks) of 533mhz Elixir ram for sale on ebay at $30 each unit (are a matched pair, brand new less then a month or so old). although I'll sell the matched pair of ram to a SAU'er for $50. offering this deal on another forum I use.......so.......

but anyway I digress; today I walked into MSY on Flidners street, Adelaide, for the first time and picked up 2 x 1gb OCZ 667mhz ram, and 1 x ATI Raedon XpertVision 2900XT 512mb graphics card. Paid overall a cple dollars more then what I got in my ebay sales. SO, Im now happy.

straight swap !!!! almost...... if you want a matched pair of near new 533mhz ram contact me. will report on the 2900xt asap.

nice you will be more than happy with that gfx card it will out perform 2x7800gtx's

just dont use the drivers that come with the card there allready outdated download the newest from there site

I got an old 3dfx Banshee..

EVERYONE IM SELLING MY 7950GX2 FOR 480 DOLLARS IN AS NEW CONDITION WITH NO PROBLEMS. STILL UNDER WARANTEE. (MSI 3yr)

QUAD SLI CAPABLE. STEAL.

Edited by Pauly33GTS-t

It isnt QuadSLI capable is it tho.

and yes it is a steal because it is practically brand new, un-overclocked (never had to its fast as is), and QUAD SLI (2 7950GX2's) still stands as one of the most powerful combinations ever.

If I could buy another 7950GX2, i wouldnt worry about a pair 8800s for a long time.

XP64bit, COD2, BF2, etc, all extremely high fps.

Only thing it will lag in tho is HL2 source based games and fear which arent written properly for SLI.

and by lag i mean no lag at all compared to other solutions anyway for gaming.

AW hell. I might aswell keep it, no use selling it to a bunch of 8800 pushers. im waiting for an 8900 anyway.

I was looking for 2 x 7950's for quad sli work...... found a few around but not at pricing I was willing to pay. Then came across another 7800 so I sli'd my gtx's. The new 2900xt is as loud as a mofo jet. Havent sorted out the settings as yet.

sold the ram yay :D

put some headphones on and play some BF2 and you wont even hear it

and paully think about it if a1x 8800gts is very close to 7950 the SLI 8800GTS isnt going to be that much less again yet it will do Dx10

i see no point to a DX9 card now if your buying new/2nd hand

    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
