So seems the PS3 finally got jailbroken. Quite ingenious too, a USB dongle that tricks the console into thinking it's a dev unit hence running unsigned code. Whoever thought of that is gonna be one rich guy!

"The good news for jailbreakers is the software the jailbreak runs stops Sony from pushing a system update." - pity I've already updated that stupid patch where it removes "Other OS"...

ugh. got a 360s to replace my dead and gone 360, and ive spent perhaps 3 hours on the line with xbox customer support telling me that i should be able to connect with no problems, and saying that if im having issues, its with my isp.

so ive spent about the same amount of time on the phone with my isp and stuffing around with my router settings and its all come up apples, everythings working as it should.

just finished another call with xbox support, and theyve advised me to get a replacement console...

... honestly, ive owned it for less than 24 hours, that seems a bit retarded.

and fixed.

new xbox's are finnicky bastards. had to disable my MAC filtering and my security, searched for networks again, and connected straight away.

at what cost though?

and what's the performance like?

For me, I'm actually saving $15/mo on what I was getting previously (and then I was only getting 150gb/mo).

Main differences from my old plan:

i) Uploads & downloads are counted as 'usage'

ii) Split of the 1TB between 500GB peak/500GB off-peak

However, I did the math and even if I max. my outbound the entire month, that's less then 150gb/mo... and ultimately, I'm still saving $15/mo for more downloads - so it's hard to go wrong.

As for performance - it's iinet, their network is one of the best in the country. Hasn't changed from my old plan.

As per http://www.iinet.net.au/broadband/plans.html & http://www.iinet.net.au/business/broadband/plans.html

For residential users, $129.90 - which includes cutting your regular phone line across to iinet (which will probably save you money anyway).

For business users, $165.90 with the above phone line proviso. As a note, naked dsl plans don't have a 1TB option as yet.

Even their lower down plans are pretty decent for one of the better quality ISPs (in terms of service, support, and their network infrastructure). I tend to recommend people stick with iinet/internode if they can. There are definitely cheaper ISP options out there (think TPG), but they have a poor history in Australia for their network, service, quality, etc.

There is always something about people who own Skylines that attracts I.T. Im an I.T engineer, and I have r33... Valid point? haha. I think the skyline brings out a little geek in everyone

youll find a lot of IT people here, this is true.... common job ;P

-D

Also consider you're going to get a bias of IT people on here given it's an online forum ...

I do find it interesting to see the sheer mix of IT people though - their different skill-sets, roles, etc.

Hardly bias... You don't have to be I.T savy to know how to write on a forum these days... In fact, you have to be just plain retarded not to know. haha

    • That's awesome. Fully serviced/full log book history for one of those cars is super rare from what I know. With JDM's like Skyline's, Supras, are quite hard to find one with full log book history. S15's seem to be somewhat of an exception, at least the spec s australian delivered models.
    • Hey all, It's been a bit since I have been able to update.  I pulled the fuel pump, first off it was a "universal" pump and the strainer was very clogged, and it was folded over on itself.  I replaced the fuel pump and all is well....  No more stalling.
    • That's convinced me I'll bump up the G30-660 to 770   Any idea if the difference in boost pressure? Cheers

    • Hey guys so turns out this project is going to be much bigger than I thought haha but I've done some my homework and have done a few panels on my car, but one part I can just not visualise is this. If I do a spot repair and I put filler in a dent for example and sand outside of the repair with 320 grit lets say so the primer can stick as I will only put primer on that repair and the surrounding area and then repaint the whole panel. Don't I need to make sure that I don't put primer on the old clear coat? I keep seeing YouTube videos where people have new paint and primer land on the old clearcoat that isn't even dulled down, it's still shiny. I thought putting paint on clearcoat or primer on clearcoat is a bad idea because it won't stick. So in this scenario it's a bit different to mine but imagine someone doing a spot repair and only painting that small section of repair but the new paint is landing on the old clearcoat. What am I missing?
