600hp
Hi guys back out at the creek again. This time with 311kw at the wheels. I'm still having a little bit of trouble off the line. the only spot on pass i did i managed the 12.0 at 128mph. Next time we do out we don't want anything less than 133mph. before anyone says you won't get that, we will run another 5 psi on top of what we had before. Also on the 12.0 we ran with 18psi next time we wil drop it to 15 as thats the pressure we ran on the last two. one my last run i forgot to put the traction control back on, this resulted in lots and lots of wheel spin all the way down the track untill i got into forth. as for wheel spin, yes with the traction control on it still does spin through third but we limit it with the motec. 600hp
I thought i would just add that we saw 10,950 RPM last night. so if you saw the car run and wondered why the car sounds like it does, thats the reason. benm
Get some decent front rubber and 133mph won't be an issue. The first 2 gears are wasted with revving/spinning the tyres and then you have a massive top end surge. Post up your timeslip details... 600hp
We have good rubber. bfgoodrich 225/50/15.drag ta. its our stock shafts and hubs which keeps me to doing slow launches. I'll post up all the states tommorow. I'd love to crack over 135mph with those tires some day also. Sydneykid
We have good rubber. bfgoodrich 225/50/15.drag ta with 311kw at the wheels lots and lots of wheel spin all the way down the track untill i got into forth. My guess is it needs some serious suspension work, like all front wheel drive drag cars it will benefit a lot from a decent set up. What spring rates are you running? Shocks? Camber? Toe? Personally I wouldn't be worried about more power until you can use the power that you currently have. cheers Edited March 10, 2006 by Sydneykid Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2008099 Share on other sites
MrBlonde
Fantastic trap speed. The ET is the place to focus now Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2008723 Share on other sites
600hp
Its running DMS coilovers all round. Its the drive shafts and hubs wich are holding the car back. as for why add power, because we can. if we can get a higher mph it will give us an idea on what et that are possible once we get the front end sorted. benm
I'm with SydneyKid. Get the frontend sorted and then just feed it power bit by bit. You are losing some serious amount of time in the first 330' Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2009939 Share on other sites
600hp
The front end will cost us about 3k to get sorted where as we believe there is a good 100kw more in the power side of things. New products wich will go onto the car in the future. 1.Hypertune billet plenum 2.Hypertune billet 76mmTB 3.New turbine housing. 4.ARC 100mm front mount 5.ELF race fuel 6.More RPM 7.More boost Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2010132 Share on other sites
MattSR
Err... MORE RPM? 10,950 isnt enough? Hehehe Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2010148 Share on other sites
MrBlonde
if we can get a higher mph it will give us an idea on what et that are possible once we get the front end sorted. I wouldn't recommend that approach. ET is king. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2010249 Share on other sites
BU5TER
I wouldn't recommend that approach. ET is king. I 100% agree with Kenny, no use in having mph and a would of, could of, should of ET I know with my old set up I ran 128mph and it was good for what ever ET but the best I ever ran was 11.7 so really it was a high 11 sec car no matter what the mph said as thats the best It ever did Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2010283 Share on other sites
600hp
Its just so much fun getting the car to go so fast at the second half of the track. And yes we will start to concerntrate on the ET's. We are going to try to find a sponsor for the car, which will enable us to get the front end sorted . 1q2w3e4r
Hey awesome trap speed. I'm just curious, your power figure is considerably lower than it was 12 months ago. Did you have the tuning pulled back a little? Or were the previous figures of 330+ kw's run on C16? DoughBoy
This thread's about Mark's black Honda civic, I think you might be referring to the GTR? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2021601 Share on other sites
Sydneykid
The front end will cost us about 3k to get sorted You don't need to go to that extent to improve the ET's. Have you had it on a wheel aligner and looked at the front end dynamic camber change? What about bump steer? Keep more of the tyre in contact with the track surface, $100 well spent. Have you checked the corner weights? If not, there is a good gain there for almost zero cost. If you are not running at least 1,000 lbs per inch springs in the rear that that's a start. Lessen the weight transfer off the front wheels, $300 well spent. There are so many simple things that you could do, I bet there is at least 1/2 second in it with a mimimal spend and a day's work. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108958-just-ran-120-1285mph/#findComment-2021604 Share on other sites
