Hi all,

Have been thinking about getting a water/methanol injection kit lately - the fuel quality is questionable around where I live - the weather/humidity is the same but you get a new tank of fuel and next thing knock goes the pfc. I'd like to have the safety buffer that hi octane fuel can give.

Here's a link to a US company that sells a kit with ''cooling mist controller.''

http://www.rx7store.net/ProductDetails.asp...gle+Deluxe+clog

I seems to be allright for the money spent - has a clog nozzle sensor, cooling mist controller with laptop adjustable maps, 150 psi pump, tank, filter, non-return valve, nozzle, lines, boost sensor, inlet temp guage (leds) etc.

Also see someone selling the low spec kit (without water mist controller) here:

http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...0injection&st=0

Anyway, I'm just interested if anyone else here has used any other kits - I've seen a few cheapies on ebay etc. After building the 2EO lambda sensor kit I'm ready for somethng else!!!

Apparently some saabs and vovlos came out with water injection standard....

Would like to see some first hand experiences!

Cheers

A good mate of mine runs water methanol in his supercharged HR Holden...

made a bit of difference, but it affects your air fuel ratios so you would need a tune.

totally changes the induction note when it operating

water injection is mint!

i ran it on my old 83 turbo saab and it allowed me to over boost from 9psi to 13psi (mech fuel injecton so i was limited)

i usualy run straight water with only a bit of methanol to keep it from freezing but either way its great.

the aquamist kits are a fine piece of kit however they cost quite a bit but believe me when i say this, the kit is bullett proof and feels and looks indestructable.

if you tune to the water meth mix it need to be constant FOREVER (or till you retune) as stated before it will throw the afr's off a bit due to the methanol adding to the over all octane of the mix.

best bet is to just run water to control detonation and add up to 50% meth when you are feeling a bit of overboost naughtlyness.

Thanks for the replies,

The boostedxtremes kits are the same cooling mist kits I posted the links about.

I've ordered a cooling mist kit - the deluxe version with clog nozzle detector and water mist controller - comes with software to allow you to change the maps if you want. Things are a little more advanced than the days of the windscreen washer bottle etc!

I think I'll retune to methanol - just mix 50/50 - you don't have to do it at the servo just check it before you go for a drive I 'spose. Will probably get a bigger tank than the one with the kit and mount it all in the boot.

I can see why the engine note totally changes - hell you're upping the octane levels!

Looking foreward to putting some timing back into the whale...

Cheers

Water injection is a very good thing. We dont do it enough here in oz and still get awesome power figures. I think we could have the most powerful cars fullstop if more of us used water injection.

In the UK, water injection is used or more occasions. An example is a CA18det s13 strack car which has been running for many months now (years?) and is making 483rwhp.

Mind you its runs 265 degree cams, forged internals....blah blah. But it makes this power thanks to water injection and 2 bar boost.

A few of these 600hp GTRs who frequent this site could see quite a bit more hp with water injection.

Im all for it :(

Here is someone to speak to about them got this off supra forums very keen to answer questions.

mailto:[email protected]

His name is brad and he sells kits very similiar to aquamist at a good price.

Thanks for the lead I contacted Brad from Boosted Xtremes over the weekend. He offers good prices considering they include gst. He said in the email he offers discounts to any club and forum members and you do not have to be in a group buy :D . I am buying a kit as soon as I decide which one I want. Here is the website www.boostedxtremes.com.au.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
