I'm currently planning on purchasing an R33 GTS-4 (RB25DE, AWD). I know it's not a turbo, but I can't afford the insurance on a turbo model.

Anyway, I've only seen photo's of the car, but it looks like it's been lowered quite a way. I live outside Perth, and the road around my place aren't all that good. I don't want to be grinding the bottom of the car everytime I go through a pothole or over a train line. I'm wondering what would be involved in raising the car back up to the stock height, and how much this would cost... I know this is probably an unusual question, but any help would be great.

BtW: I'm not planning on raising it up unless it feels too low after I've driven it...

First you have to find out how it's been lowered (ask the owner).

If it's just had lower springs put in then just change them for stock springs or other lowered springs which aren't as low.

IF it's got height adjustable coil-over suspension you can either sell it to me :P or adjust the height up so you have more ground clearance.

Why did you decide on an R33 GTS-4? I only bought one cause i went looking at a NA R33 and it turned out to be a GTS-4, I only bought it cause it was in excellent condition.

Personally I would've preferred a GTS25 (rwd) because they're lighter than the GTS-4 and the 4wd is a bit of a waste with the non-turbo engine IMO, but it is good to have in the wet I guess.

Have you got a quote for insurance on a turbo model because I've heard there isn't all that much difference between insurance between turbo and NA models.

Thanks for the info. If i decide to get this one, I'll make sure I ask about how he lowered it. It's getting an RAC inspection anyway - would that help at all?

I got insurance quotes from Just Car, and there was almost $1000 difference (between GTS4 and GTS-T). But I called famous insurance on friday and I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

Thanks for the help.

    • Yeah I also looked at Plazmaman, but, it ended up alot  cheaper getting black ones through EFI when you also added in the delivery cost
    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
