Hey Guys

I have a GTS-T Skyline, With and ARC intercooler, full exhaust BOV and After market adujstableSupspension (supposed to be worth $3000) I also suspect the car has cams and an Aftermarket computer but havn't had a chance to have a look as I just bought it.

I have stock wheels, When I take off ON A STRAIGHT LINE and put my foot down car has tranction however when I change into Second the car is almost side ways (which is quite fun but it just seems too easy for the car to loose traction)

Is there anything I can do to avoid this from occuring (besides taking my foot off the pedal),

Sorry if im asking dumb questions, this is the first turbo I have had but have driven a few previously and none have done that Esp on a straight line, could this be because of the power of the skyline ?? or the suspension ?? any feedback would be great.

I would suggest that your suspension is very firm and/or your tyres are not so good. check if they are damper adjustable, but even then if your suspension is adjustable and your tyres are no good you will not get good traction...so invest in some good rubber

If runnin stock boost then 7psi at max...

heheh i got the same problem, around corners.. the back just kicks out like crazy!!

i say buy new rims, with atleast 9inch wide on the rears..

the 16s with 205s are just awful!!

why didnt nissan give us stock 17s or or just wider width..

Im not worried about the corners as that is excepted, its when im on a straight line, i put my foot down changed and 5 1/2 grand and as soon as i punched second the ass came out to the right. Its as if it was raining but it was dry as.

it could be the tyres as the car was sitting for a year and a half, without being driven so maybe the tyres got hard or something ..???

How about you stop "punching second" and bring the clutch up a little slower (or engaging the throttle a little slower) once you've selected second? What's wrong with backing off the throttle when you change gear, like you're meant to?

You're more likely to light up your tyres in first gear than second. Its simple physics. If you've got traction in first gear, then its not (in itself) a tyre / suspension problem. Its sounding more like the problem is you.

Aside from that, run a set of super soft tyres with low air pressure and dial your rear dampers as softly as possible. Check your wheel alignment. Turn down the power.

his right, i can choose to loose traction in first or not, but in the end im still doing the same speed

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.

    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
