Thats a sign of pure jealously

Also with those R31 pics, why are they all Jap spec ones? arent the Aussie ones good enough?

Atleast I posted up cars that are from Australia.

Youre also on a forum thats basied to cars from japan...

Did you know the R31s raped the VLs in the tooeys 1000, and pretty much every other event they were in, cept one race where they both stacked..

The sizzler R31 even ran with the R32 GTRS in the 91tooeys 1000 and beat alot of cars that were ahead of its time..

Did you know that the RB30ET is actually exclusive to the VL and has been made famous by VLs?

Also with the Jap spec thing, I know R31s are Japanese, however the R31s over here are different to whats in Japan, thats what im talking about.

BTW 2 of those VLs I posted up were V8s, I should know because one of them is actually mine.

Before anyone says it, I do not hate R31s, I actually dont mind them at all and have considered one.

Yeah they werent RB30ETs were they?

Also I was aware R31s did come Turbo from factory, they were RB20DETs and NO R31 ever came out with a RB30ET.

Thats what im saying.

You are missing my point mate.

NO production based R31 Aus spec or Jap spec had a RB30ET and was exclusive to VLs.

Go to CalaisTurbo.com.au and tell them different.

Even go here for the info.

thats from factory..

part reason there arent more and holden got the nissan engine is because of emissions, nissan wanted to run a intercoler and bov. Thank god they didnt other wise R31s would of become the uleh mobile.

and ct is like coburg on the internet

f**ks sake.. This topic is f**king lame and I'm suprised it hasn't died yet.

Just buy the car you can afford/maintain/are happy with.

VLs are f**king shit cars. LOL at the ones that were meant to be good looking - they look the same as the others. The 4 door r31s look like fridges too.

If you want to start topics like this go to ns.com - they have lots of kids that have time and want to argue... back to the technical section for me.

I wish I had moderator rights so I could lock this now....

[edit: P.S. Nate I think that turbo r31 is a early non-nics RB20DET powered car.]

Im pretty sure its a auspec series 1 hence calling it the silo, but i think youre thinking it may be a passge the 4door R31 turbos..

could be right, tho..

but ther ARE some factory turbo rb30et R31s that were made.

why did you even bring up the Rb30et thing? at the end of the day is a nissan engine because everything else holden makes/made is utter crap..

Bored I guess, needed something to bitch about. lol

both cars are pretty gay, sure we can make them go fast, but you can make anything go fast, i hate ppl that put threads up like this, get off your f*kn ass, go look at a couple in the same condition, take them for a drive, go over them thoroughly and make a desicion ffs.

the r31 will most likely have less rust, out performs a vl 114kw to 121kw or something. the engine is mounted better in the r31.

But i honestly dislike the interior of an r31, been in one, several times, ive had a vltc, easy mods, good quick car (made 161rwkw with just a 3" tubo back exhaust)

vl is more likely to be raped and in worse condition, and if u find a really good condition turbo in either vl or r31, u will be paying through your nose. why dont you just go buy an excel that is a couple of years old, put a wrx bonnet scoop on it, massive muffler with a 5" tip, and stfu ...

Ryan,

Have you noticed the shit interior in your vl?

Or are you blind? Do you have to get out and look at your fresh paint to balance it out?

Even a early model camry has a better interior than that shit!

Care factor on what my interior looks like= 0.

My oh my how its funny when someone from the other side gives you (Not literally YOU) a bit of stick and everyone comes out gritting their teeth and trying to keep their composure.

Just proves some people like to give shit, but they cant take it back.

BTW I'm not being a prick, im just saying things from the VL driver perspective. :D

So, you don't care about what your interior looks like, even though its where you spend most of your time...?

No not really.

If I wanted a car for a attractive interior, I wouldnt've got a VL.

I've done a little bit to dress it up, but its not on my priority list.

vl interiors arent as bad as people give em shit for ... sure they aint the best, but let us remember what year they were made in, 1986 ... developed in 84-85 im guessing

oh and ryan, you forgot a couple of examples of vls ...

you have probally heard of ULOOKD

a vl aero/director is one sexy car, although that is not an original aero, wrong rear wing, and no flaired guards ... peace yo'all

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
