There have been quite a few guys that have done the 1JZ-GTE (2.5L Twin Turbo) - and two that I know of that have done the 1UZ-FE (4.0L Quad Cam V8 from the Lexus) but I am not aware of anyone doing the 2JZ as yet. - If anyone has - I'd love to hear from them for a few things that have me concerned...

ETA for completion is by September 2003 (because I am driving up to the Jamboree at Willowbank, and want to drive it up) - The only thing holding me back at the moment is finding a bloody Aristo front cut for the engine and gearbox etc. I am leaving it Auto (coz I am lazy now) and the torque will be more than adequate :P

Total Budget is about $18,000 and I should be able to get about 200 to 220kW at the rear wheels. in a 100% road legal, fully engineered Luxury car that will be the ultimate sleeper.

Southo,

Thanks for your comprehensive reply. Your input is greatly appreciated. Given you comments, I think I will err towards the NavTrak system instead.

I guess my final comment though, given that there is traking, is there also an alarm component? That is, with the rrp of $1950, does that include like a siren, immobilisers etc.

I mean, it's great if the car gets stolen, but what about preventing the car from moving at all? Of do I also need to purchase an external alarm again?

Thanks.

what's the ETA  of the conversion?

zman, i've seen another cressida with this transplant....i think they guy is on toymods club...

theres one with the plates F1MERC or something like that, nice looking thing.

I've had 2 cressidas in the family so far, the next would definately have 2 hair dyers hanging off the sides... OR a big one ;)

Scotty,

Yes, there is an alarm/Immobiliser component built into the system at that price. I beleive that the Immobiliser is a 3 point system (I will ring to confirm)

Thanks for the Toymods links - yep - read them all and sussed out what I need etc. I got my new wheels on the weekend - (photos will be up at www.pbase.com/driftking/cressida this afternoon with the new wheels) So now I have the room to fit my new Brakes 330mm 4 pots - and then probably do the suspension at the same time. I am still trying to source a suitable front cut, and not having much luck :P

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
