some R33s are just a freak like mine. just has POD filter and 3.25'' exhaust and pulls away from other 33s with the same mods. and it keeps up with other cars who say they usualy beat 33s by a fair bit. kept p with a couple of 32 GTRs and beaten late model WRX STis. putting it on the dyno next month gona see what is gets. some have had a stab at the 250 RWHP mark.

Yeah it's strange (to me) that most stocks with 3" exhausts & POD are getting round the 240-250rwhp! I only got 202rwhp with those mods! that was before I put a dump pipe in, haven't checked the power difference since. Wouldn't be that much higher would it??

remember dynos are a tuning tool, all are different.

i wouldnt worry too much about the power output, as long as it makes gains when u do mod it, then its ok.

if u want to check the performance, take it to the strip/track and test your skills, and the ability of the car.

True, but I would've thought bringing it to the same place, Hyperdrive, and being the same dyno as the other guys with higher figures, it would've been similar with the similar mods?

I have a broken record to play for you.

Peak values mean nothing...peak values mean nothing...peak values mean nothing...

Now you can certainly have a look at the shape of the graph you have and compare it to others and this can very often give a few clues to an issue you may have. Start a new thread and post a graph or two on the forced induction bit maybe?

Perhaps sucking in hot air with your unsheilded pod is not doing you favours?

I dont no pulp 40rwhp is abit wat is the state of service of your 4door magna (jokes) who services it and who tunes it and how long have you had the whale

lads could people have had the stock turbo upgraded from new by nissan like an n1 turbo cause that might explane the different dyno results

stock 205-210 mayby or 250-260 n1 rwhps

Miller the Hoon,

my old R33 gtst with just the exhaust got about 200rwhp at some dyno day thing but, basically ran a 13.8 so who the hell cares?

Comparing dyno peak values is like comparing used toilet paper....it's all crap. Can I put it any stronger than that?

Gee I don't know if I should be replying to this post! :P

Like whales, a ride like this is rare to find! (and don't say anything about being almost extinct!)

I get my servicing and tune done at Hyperdrive. But as Rev210 puts it, the dyno results aren't something you can go on.

I spose I just want to better my time of 14.8, and the fact that I've got 3" turbo back etc like other R33s that pull in the high 13s etc makes me wonder what it is that's the prob. (besides the whale factor)

I did have suspension and alignment problems (real bad apparently) and they have all been recently fixed, so I don't know if that would effect times??

All this and we still have no Idea how a stockish 33 made such good HP.. Even if peak power figures aren't that good a measure.

Has anyone found out anymore info about this 33 and whether it was stock turbo, possibly different internals??

Yeah i am on the case, so busy with work at the mo. Gotta convince my mate to let me rip it all apart so i can check it out.....he is more like "who gives a f%&K as long as it hauls ass" gotta say im starting to agree there.

Will try get some pics soon to.

Definitely. As long as it's tuned ok I wouldn't be stripping it down to prove something to a buch of people on some forums...

    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
    • I started removing the tank a while back with the intent to give it a proper clean. Got to a bolt that I couldn't undo completely due to a diff being in the way, so just said f**k it and siphoned the gluggy old fuel out and called it a day. Looking it the tank it looks less corroded than the one in the pics for that billet hanger from Frenchy's anyway. Isn't it the fuel filters job to worry about this stuff? I scraped off most the crusty shit of the hanger but will give it another go before reinstall coz maybe the fuel and return pipes are also full of gunk
    • Pretty sure it is a common fault. I believe this is the only part you need, but don't quote me as I don't have a V36.  I also believe it is a bit of a pain to change and the device needs to be encoded to the car once it is replaced, so may need someone with the right tools.
