Ive got a R32 GTR and ive taken out the ristrictor in the hose that goes to the boost controller solaniod but i was also told to join those 2 hoses together to get 15psi.. It works BUT like at 6000rpm its sometimes starts to make a limiter noise. could some one help me because my car is GOIN NUTS ON 15PSI :O

I was only running about 8-9psi before but now that little bit extra is awesome.

DO GTRS have a boost cut defender?

ANYONE?

Im only new to the forum so this is a pic of my car.

post-26787-1143156584.jpg

explain exactly what happens at this 6000rpm mark.

does it cut the power completely.. like is it violent?

is it like a rev limiter where it stutters and kinda back fires?

doest it keep reving up but kinda misses?

what happens to the boost gauge when this "CUT" happens? still sit at 15 or drop?

with more description and those answered, people can give you a better response as to what the problem is.

at the moment it could be..

AFM max

spark blowing out due to excess boost.

coil packs arc'ing out

etc...

I think that the fact that you now have about 2 x the boost you had before, you are blowing out the spark.

there are a few things you can try which will cost you nothing but some of your time.

1.) take out your spark plugs and gap them down to 0.8mm.

if they already are, drop them back to 0.7mm.

2.) with some electrical tape, tape up the coil packs. there is a guide on this in the maintenance section of these forums.

I did the above 2 points 2 weeks ago and my car revs out smoothly now.

mine is an rb20 but same edal.

runs a little more boost than stock.

I suggest you try the 2 things above as they are free and MAY fix the issue.

If you are in Sydney, I can help you do it if you like.

if they are anything like GTST's then yes they do.

Write it out 20 times..........

:O cheers :P

if you are running 15psi and stock ecu you will be encountering the STOCK EXCESS AIRFLOW protection. turn the boost down and try again, i would suggest around 10psi at the most. this should work around the excess airflow protection

    • It’s definitely an import, the Aussie ones have reflectors in the rear bar, it’s also a turbo which none of the Aussie one were.    I remember back in the day I want a twin turbo z32 so bad and then I saw a 32 gtr and that was the end of that lol
    • Same can be said for Subarus motors ha ha!   I like the 300ZX, I nearly bought a Z32 before I bought my first Skyline. It was going to be a project. Then I found out there was a bit of a dodgy title with it... As in, someone attempted to commit insurance fraud with it and there was now some dodgy legalities around it. So at 18 I walked away from it.
    • The below is what the readings I had with the fuel pressure gauge which were correct. It seems like the issue is mainly during drive and not idle. I bought the new hanger hoping it could be the issue, perhaps I ruined something while cleaning, but I have not installed it yet since I have to wire up everything with the new plugs.
    • Actually, that's not entirely true. It's also the same motor in the 1st gen Nissan Cube but they're rare as hen's teeth.
    • Yeah it is always worth testing and balancing actuators out of the box, just set the pressure regulator on a compressor very low (eg 5 psi) and increase it slowly to see when they both move.....unfortunately while you may be able to adjust the length of the actuator rod to minimise any difference, the actual pressure they move from is not adjustable so you need a well matched pair. And yes, the VCAM is probably contributing; the earlier in the rev range they come on boost and the slower the revs build (I think your demo was in 5th), the more you notice it.  Driving at WOT through 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc you will probably never hear it as any shuffling starts and is over super quickly
