Finally got off my ass and went to a Street Meet.

R33 GTST, stock clutch, turbo and suspension, standard bolt on mods, 197kw @ 0.85 Bar

Front 235/45/17 Dunlop FM901s Rear 255/40/17 Potenza GIII @ 35psi, lowered to 33psi at the end

First couple of runs @ 0.7Bar

Run 1 - me:

60' 2.433

ET 14.971 @ 96.37 MPH

Run 2 - my bro

60' 2.733

ET 15.278 @ 97.22 MPH

Was misifiring (needs retune) so boost wound down to 0.65 bar

Run 3 - vijay

60' 2.221

ET 14.892 @ 95.55 MPH

Run 4 - my bro (vs GTShortie)

60' 2.343

ET 14.730 @ 91.19 MPH

Run 5 - vijay (vs GTShortie)

60' 2.107

ET 14.516 @ 95.78 MPH

- It was the first time ever at a drag, let alone competing- never seen the staging process or the 'christmas tree' until we were racing. Our first races we both staged 2nd and wasn't ready for the start. By the end of the night I was staging early and waiting to drop the hammer

- I can't do burnouts. Last one of the nite I tried to step onto the brakes but I think I did it too much

- Shifted too early, around 6500rpm

- Dropping stock clutch does NOTHING for launches. Tried it the 2nd time and tramped badly.

- Retune next month, so I can run on high boost

But it was the best rush! :) Definitely be back there soon...

Anyone got any advice from the results??

Vijay

1. At a street meet it doesn't matter if you launch immediately after the light turns green or wait a few seconds then go, your ET will be the same (reaction time doesn't matter), so stage up, compose yourself, then go when you're ready.

2. Don't worry too much about the burnout unless you're using soft semislicks.

3. Try lowering your tyre pressure even more, with 255/40/17 i'd be trying to get more sidewall flex by going as low as 20psi, but its a matter of trial and error.

4. What mods exactly do you have? I would have expected 95-97mph from a car making under 150rwkw.

What rpm are you launching at? With 255 rubber on the rear (drop it to about 20-25psi) you would be dropping the revs from around 4000-4500rpm i'd think? If you can nail a 2.0sec 60ft time you will drop close to a second instantly.

Rev it out more before changing, up around 6800-7000rpm somewhere. You may even be able to hold 3rd gear across the line and should be doing up around 100-102mph.

Hi, i've got virtually a stock car running a 3inch exhuast, stock clutch stock boost etc etc, my first time at the drags got me from a 14.6 down to a 14.1 at 97mph.

1st run = 14.53 at 96.4mph

2nd run = 14.32 at 97.15mph

3rd run = 14.11 at 97.7mph

4th run = 14.23 at97.5mph

5th and last was 14.64 at 96.4mph ( stock clutch gave up the ghost and slipped from the get go).

It was a great night and i will be going again now that i've got a new clutch and boost controoler. Can't wait to see what it will run now. PM me when you go and if i can i'll meet you there! Lots of sau ppl go.
