Hi all

just a word of warning to those who have a skyline without an alarm :P

my bro had his r32 gtst stolen yesterday. got taken in the early hours of the morning. the car was parked in his girlfriends driveway at Ottoway and was today found by the police in Greenacres minus a panasonic double din deck (if anyway trys to sell you one), front number plate and center compartment. we are just glad that the car wasnt smashed up or anything. the d*%#heads even left us a set of keys, half a tank of petrol and a few half smoked fags on the seats. other then that the car is also missing some key holes.

the thing that gets to me the most is that the car is only an auto, pretty standard with an aftermarket exhaust but yet who ever stole it was game enough to do in front of the house right where the parents room was. it would of paid if the car had an alarm...

be careful where u park this long weekend! :(

Might sound harsh, but people who don't have an alarm in their cars should be hung, drawn and quartered. It just raises the insurance premiums for people who do the right thing and don't beg for their car to be stolen. Especially if it is parked in a driveway in Ottoway overnight.

yeah maybe just a little harsh

so go out and buy an alarm today buys and girls!

how they started the car without a key? how many other ways are there?

lets just say an alarm and immobiliser would stop this from happening?

haha alarms dont do anything .....ive seen alarms go off and people just keep walking past, dont wanna get involved etc...the best thing to do is change your locks to keyless entry etc or just leave a rottwiler in the front seat or something......very good to hear you got your car back tho as not many people do

have u seen how immobilisers work?

unless your installer hid the relay really well, which they wouldnt have because its hard and takes alot more time (i installed my own with a mate). providing the theif can locate the relays it would only take about 15 seconds to un-immoblise one.

yeah but lang, you are missing the most important functions of an alarm:

1. as a deterrent (a flashing red light at night makes a car very unattractive)

2. that 15 seconds is often the difference between a stolen car or not. The car in question was in the driveway of a home, so the second the car made a noise the thief would have been out of there.

Proof of this is my brother-in-law David's R33 was broken into last week at his home, but as soon as the alarm went off the thief fled.

Also, I have 4 points of immobolisation and a kill switch - plus 4 piezo sirens mounted inside the cabin - the noise of the piezo's is absolutely ear piercing - I would enjoy seeing a thief try to get through the 3 immobiliser points with that noise in his ear :bunny:

My brothers girlfriend's neighbour had his newly bought R32 GTR stolen. They found it the next day with a completely blown engine. Also, a mate got his R32 GTST stolen about a week ago too. First thing you guys all need to do is get good working alarms and imobilisers and leave your cars in well lit, safe areas.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
