R32 Gtr Engine Rebuilds (advice)

hey guys

im new here...planning 2 buy my 1st skyline

its a white 32GTR 1989 with a brand new engine rebuild by trojan motorsports in A.C.T all internals have been changed, stock intercooler has been kept and stock turbos have both been kept. the muffler is a 3.5 inch turbo back muffler. Owner wants $34000 for ii...is it a reasonable price for this car or is it over the top?

you might want to find out what has been done with the engine. dont take it word for word without proof. and does it come with receipts? are they using standard oil and water pumps? how about the gearbox? clutch? diff? are they the originally turbos or newer stanard turbos?

Personally for an 89 model it way overpriced. An engine rebuild does cost a bit but the rest of it doesnt justify the asking price in my opinion. And for all you know changed internals could mean forged pistons only and everything else the same

hey buddy,

way too over priced.

i paid 23000 for mine didnt have a fresh rebuild but you could do it up better for less than that.

why would any one do up a motor and keep the standard turbos.

if you get it make sure you have good proof that it has what he says it has.

i got stung big time cause the guy i bought mine off said it was all that.

but it blew up a couple of weeks later,

just be carefull...

i spent about 10000 plus the car at 23000 and i got 403awkw yesterday.

well worth the money.

the parts he has in it have all been backed up with receipts.

the parts he has as far as i can remember are as follows:

-brand new cluth...triple plate clutch, 1400kg

-2 SSQ hks bov's

-stock 32 GTR intercooler

-stock twin turbos

-stock intec manifold

-custom piping..from manifold 2 manifold n from manifold 2 intercooler n intercooler 2 turbos (mandrel bent)

-sound system

-18 inch mags

-running 7PSI boost

-stock suspension

-new conveyer belts

-new pistons

-new piston rings (maybe)

-new con-rod (maybe)

-all mods carried out by trojen motorsport

-interior in good condition

-colder intec

-test drove today n it flew

all that stuff, essentially you can find on any other GTR.

Is it forged or stock pistons?

either way... have a look in the Car For Sale here on this forum and see what 30k will get you for a 32 GTR... and they will be a lot further infront of this car IMO

I have been looking at prices of GTR's ever since I sold mine 6months or more ago, as I'm itching to save up and get back in one... I thought you would be looking at prices too if you are ready to buy one....

So many GTR's go for under $30K, with aftermarket turbos and a rebuild and better supporting mods.

It flew... nice. My GTR flew, complete with 20psi less comp in three cylinders. So much blow by, it blew the dip stick out. Can you quantify 'flew'... Reminds me of Dad telling me that I don't know what a fast car is until I have been in his old kingy, with tripple carbi's cause it 'flew'....

How can you be interested in GTR's and not browse that forum to see what else is on offer? There are that many on there. There is a couple to get you started.

Hi,

Probably too much money.

We recently (2 months ago) looked for an R32 GTR for a friend of mine. All were advertised $20k-$30k. We

looked at 6; two were standouts. They were not the most expensive advertised ones, either.

Purchased one for $22k that was 'in pretty good nick' with a few mods (n1's, exhaust, teins, 9" keiichi wheels).

The one I liked best was _immaculate_, stock apart from mines pods, and the guy wanted $21k, but the extras

on the other car were what my mate wanted. There is a glut of GTRs on the market at the moment.

These rules would probably apply to any 2ndhand car purchase:

* Set a budget, and stick to it.

* See if you can find a checklist for the model you want to buy. There's one on this forum.

* If there are things on the checklist you don't understand, try getting someone that does to go with you.

* Do not buy the first car you have seen.

* Look around. As in, visit at least 6 cars. Now you probably know what you're looking for.

* If the first one's actually the best car for you, _now_ you're allowed to buy it.

* Make sure you get a test drive, or if you're worried about insurance, get the seller to take you for a rap.

First up i have to be honest with all of you this is my second ever R32 i have driven in. The first was a R32 GTs-T and this car would of killed it, so to me this car felt like it was about to pick up from the gorund the way it felt was like i was in a plane and it was hitting that speed where the front of the plaen starts to lift.

but yeah if any1 knows any1 that is willing to sellla R32 GTR in really good condition with a rebuild that would be mad.

by the result of feed back i have gotten is that the car is a bute of a rip off. thanx to all.

34 k is way over the top for just about all r32 gtr's unless its pumping 600 @ the wheels it aint worth it as said above look through the for sales on this forum and u will find a better buy

edit:::: for an 89 model u can pick them up under 20 k and do rebuild yourself and be saving a few thousand dollars

      It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!

      The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.

      What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.

      Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
