Shannons wont insure you.

im pretty sure they dont insure anyone under 25 with a turbo vehicle.... but i might be wrong.

Yeah, they took me when I was 24. Had to have a good record etc.

Hey race!! What did shannons do to you? I've been with them for 2 years now, and havn't had any trouble with them (and they handled a small claim for me). Good agreed value, monster mods at around $1600 per year. Was with famous classic - who I found to be less helpful.

i was with shannons with my first 300zx and it caught fire and they paid out within 14 days....no problems with them at all and then they insured my R32 and my R33 with out any issues. with my current 300zx i am with just cars and no probs with a little claim i had a little while ago

when i rang up shannons to get over phone quote they asked my age and what car and they said they wouldnt insure me for a Turbo'd vehicle under the age of 25. i didnt even bother with NRMA as ive heard some bad stories, but Just Car has been the best find for me, although i might check out this "vigil"

i tried shannons because my mate has his Civic insured with them, went with him to insure it, and shannons seemed really hassle free and quite easy to deal with. but ohwell... suppose ill have to wait till im 25 and see what happens?

shannons quoted me for full compo and 3rd party, granted it was a supercharged mr2, and i was 19...

but even that's a bit more "acceptable" than 16/17yrs and a turbo skyline. not picking on you beau, just saying its possible they couldve said NO fullstop based on age and car..

PM or talk to 8OO5TED - he has insured all three turboed cars of mine and was exceptionally helpful. If there is to be any issues with vehicles and/or age he WILL tell you what can and cannot be done. Strongly recommend the contact. At least you will know what can be done for your car and your insureance.

I had minor smash which took 9 months to fix, I was on the phone to shannons all the time they did nothing, I had to find parts myself, then the spray painter did the shitest job ever had to take the car off them, which then got fixed by someone else. I had to go out and buy another car. Before it was finished Shannons rang me and ask so how is the car going now that its finished, I was like what the f**k Its still sitting in some dodge pannelbeaters shop hasnt been touched. They had no idea. The asseor for Them did the runner and left all the unfinish shit to be picked up by other people I found out later that the asseor was mates with the spray shop i got it done at. After all that they send me a new qoute for my insurance, from 1700 to 3500

I had been with them for about 5 or more years too at that stage.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
