Hi all,

i have a power fc to run my rb30det and just need to know some stuff regarding boost...

daily i would like to run 7psi, with a switch to 18psi for when i want to have some fun...

can the power fc handle the switch between boost changes?

or should i sell up and get a different computer?

thanks

you would be silly to sell the powerfc if you want different boost settings and couldnt work it out. under SETTING, BOOST you have 4 settable options. simlply dial in the boost pressure in KGcm2 and set duty cycle. The option that is highlighted when you leave the screen is the one thats active.

Ie;

option 1 at 0.50bar and cuty cycle 80

option 2 at 1.45bar and duty cycle 65

select option 2 then press PREV and its active.

However

If you have a 1 bar actuator or gate spring then you can't run 0.50 bar, you can only run the minimum boost at whatever the actuator or gate spring is.

The bigger the difference betweeh the gate spring or actuator and target boost the harder the controller has to work and the less likely it will be able to maitain accurate and relibable pressure controll

ie: running 18psi on a 8psi spring is silly, it will never be able to maintain it correctly

lots of things are possible with the powerfc. youll need a suitable hand controller then, i suggest looking in for sale section for one that suits ECR33.

well you can't go any lower than 15psi with a 15psi spring.

so you can have switchable between 15psi and 18psi but not any lower

oh sorry kwazza, didnt see yours.

duty cycle is a ratio of opened to closed, as in the valve on the solenoid.

if you find you dial in say 0.80kgcm2 and find it never gets to that much and can only say get to 0.60kgcm2 then increase the duty cycle, ie: leave it open more than it remains closed. if it gets to 0.80kgcm2 to quickly or spikes way over dial the duty cycle down a bit to control the pressure and regulate it more

some boost controllers do auto duty cycle (HKS EVC) and some have manual control (APEXI AVCR + PFC)

Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
