Lately the Car Audio industry has been filled with two major rumours doing the rounds.

1. Autobarn and Sony have stopped trade. Autobarn Australia will no longer sell Sony products.

2. Apline will leave it's independant dealer network and whore itself to JB Hifi.

Of these two choices, one happened yesterday and is confirmed, the other will happen July 1st this year and is pending final confirmation.

So my question is to the members of this forum, what other rumours are floating around out there about the future of car audio in Australia?

1 I know happened 2 I'told by someone close to the source that it won't. we'll see.(if they'll deal with that comapny that means that they will deal with me if they ar that desperate.

I'l also add that rockford fosgate made a loss last year as did Alpine. Blaupunkt made a profit but not much.

1.Sony is crap anyway 2.Its about alpine stoped trying to be some sort of exclusive brand, all they did was turn people to other brands like pioneer.

but at one time sony was up with the rest of them (1990s) then they went full retail and bypassed the specialists. name goes down as does quality due to lack of profits. alpine as we know is currently a specialist brand and the specialists are pissed that alpine considered the idea (although current discussion that it wasn't to be..) seeing as they lose their nich in this market.

from a customer standpoint its all about market and waht you can buy for nix.

another rumor to put in the mix from my side of the fence: I'm probably goign to start selling kenwood.. (stay tuned.)

    • hey mate so i was in a similar position needing something better than oem for track but also wanting it to look the part, i went for APG APG Performance Brakes they are a solid price and i have had no issues with any of the components from them. the rotors and pads can be swapped out for all the usual brands just ensure you are getting the right sizes. i have just a front kit on my car. i would recommend upgrading to a bigger master cylinder as they are a bigger calliper so you can actually notice some increased braking performance
    • Hi guys, I've just bit the bullet on a forged rebuild for my 25det looking at making 600rwhp with the built engine. Having always been a butthurt for big brakes, I'd like to upgrade the fronts. I have looked at a few different websites, not have really stood out to me. What are some good quality front brakes, are the Attkd ones any good?    Thanks.
    • Went out for drive with Jackie for a while in the Mazda and whilst it was raining cats and dogs, the interior and boot are still nice and dry so the top and drains are working well to keep the elements out, winning
    • And yes would be going to tomei Japan for sure as it’s closer to me …
    • Yeah I heard the same. Might be hard to order one. But then I guess can go to hks or go to a more expensive n1 block with tomei. Guess will jump the hurdle once I get there next upgrade around. I can’t get work done in the states as the lead time will take for ever on top of shipping to Hong Kong.
