Guess how much I have spent....you will hate me

nah no quarter mile time yet, I have had it since Feb this year....and been replacing stuff and trying to get ti to run properly since July  lol

try finding someone to tune an FCONV...it doesnt happen in qld...so I used to have to contend with an extremely anoying idle and some very rich afr's. I believe that Matty Spry might have the software now though.

that's easily fixed, bust out the scissors, cut Mr HKS off and wire in Mr MOTEC

no idea... 20K?

And for the record that 13,250 is how much the car cost me btw

All ive changed is fluids :P

Ahhh I see in that case you are doing better than me :P

It would be good if he did have it! They are an awesome computer

With the 3037s what was the boost response like?

was going to but never got around to it and eventually sold the car.....to tempting. I need my license and it was annoying to go driving and worry about the police pulling me over for a check and going, excuse me sir but why does that screamer pipe vent into the atmosphere? (amongst otherthings) Im going to wait and have 2 cars, one for track and one for the street. Its a much better and safer equation. I do miss the fun though..alot!

money wise maybe - performance wise not

im not a childrens anymore though :P

have to make house payments now so cant just willy nilly buy things

am EXTREMELY happy with my car though! skylines are sooo cool!

It was good for a turbo of its size, I had cams which aided it, but it came on around the 3800-4000 mark at 1bar.

You will be first on the list Anna!

Hey when do you need the mone for the NYE thing. Looks like there will be 2 of us

sik sik subw00fa!

Money anytime mate, I just need to know if you're a DEFINATE. Including you 2, there are 8 definates. So I only need 2 more to get the discount

your right about the fconv too, they are an awesome computer...just very hard to tune being they are in japanese and almost noone in aust has the software. Other than that they have so many features and allow an amazing tune. My car had been tuned by garage saurus in japan but they must have made the map a lot richer when the car was sold because the afr's were a joke when it was dyno'd at millenium.

I have spent under 15k on mods...so I guess I am still doing ok!

Hmmm thats not toooo bad *ponders*

got ny idea what the 3037 garrett equivalent is?

you mean price wise or what the difference in boost response etc is? Garrett make HKS turbos and they also make a 3037...the difference is the wheels, HKS put different wheels in their turbos to make them respond faster and smoother etc etc...But Garrett turbos are cheaper than HKS, so i guess you way up the options.

A GT30 somthing?

But I bet it isnt as good :)

Its nowhere near as good, almost all HKS turbos have an equivelant Garrett turbo being that they are both made the same. But there is a big difference in response and overall peformance. I have been in cars with the exact same turbos, HKS and Garrett versions. You notice the difference.

no no i mean wats the equivalent turbo in the garrett range i.e 3040R

HKS only come into their own with hi boost and big rpm, otherwise the garretts are just as good. and quite frankly, if u want to pay the extra couple grand for the 'better' hks then go ahead :)

dude that's rubbish. there have been people test each turbo on the exact same motor, and the only difference they noticed was the HKS provided marginally better performance at higher than normal boost (2bar+) and high rpm

Cheers will have and a talk to the girl tonight and make it definate.

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
