I'll do mine the day E85 is readdily available on the North side, that is the only thing holding me back. it is still (for now) a daily.

Hopefully they will bring it closer some day... When mine is running i use it as a daily more than i really should

My wife will kill me if I swap to fuel I have to drive 80k's for no matter how much fun it would be to have extra HP to play with. I will need injectors too and probably a surge tank and lift pump.

I would like E85 too but replacing the fuel system seems a bit of a pain in the ass at the moment.

I get away with only an in tank pump at the moment

If you are doing Crank trigger you might as well do it if only to prepare for the inevitable itch to pump moar power into it.

One step at a time! Install Link, then crank trigger, then Flex sensor and fuel system. But between crank trigger and flex sensor comes new daily.

I forsee lots of expenditure in your future...and lots of smiling when you start the GTR

Pretty much! I took it for a careful drive on the weekend actually, it sucks not being able to give it the boot!

Its a Walbro 460 E85 one.

Just read through your build thread, your old tuner was doing you a major disservice. With the same turbo also on 98 I made 260rwkw at 14 psi and 328 or somthing like that at 20psi on Richards dyno. Glad you made the switch!

i was actually quite depressed with the original figures from Mercury when it only made 260rwkw's after turbo upgrade. I thought it was really underpowered and thought it might be cause i kept it low mounted and internally gated that i lost a bit of HP.

Similar thing with my old Tuner, Richard has some Magic fingers when it comes to tuning and he is straight up with everything too which is a major selling point in a Mech / Tuner for me.

I was the same, stock exhaust mani and internally gated turbo

He is good!

Do you use Richard as well Andy? Top little workshop he has there i reckon. Two hoists and a dyno. there was 7 cars including mine there today. Its only him and a young fella who are working there too.

His knowledge is great, specially when it comes to explaining things as I know a decent amount bt am no car wizard. Think the young bloke there owns a cressida with some quality stance. Seen it there every time i go

I used him before Dan and Sean came along. Now Dan is gone I will use him should I need a mechanic again.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
