Hi All

Well. I'm scratching my head a bit over this one, my normally reliable and strong R32 GTR is having some major issues ATM.

After installing a bigger (ARC) I/C and HKS cam gears my car has developed some weird boost issue. I hardly drive this car, and after making the changes discoverd it had developed a nasty boost related (I think) issue.

It started up ok, but seemed a bit slow to bring the RPM up to the usual 1000rpm - took a few seconds, but I thought nothing of it seeing as it hadn't been driven in some time.

Anyhow, after warm up, I trundle out onto the road and find it seems reluctant to rev and didn't want to boost..... (this was about 1/4 throttle max!). after getting it up into the higher gears (80km/h) the BOV's start singing their own little song of open close, open close and constantly... no changes in throttle position...

Normally this thing makes a comfortable 280rwkw (GT2530's), so is not slow - but I'm a bit perplexed as to what has occured...

I have refitted the stock I/C - No change

Double checked the timing - 20deg (factory) - thinking of throwing the stock cam wheels back on, but I think it is highly unlikely this is the cause)

checked all the conections - all ok

Initially thought is was a boost leak, but none found

another thing I have noticed is that after going up the driveway (500m) onto the road (500m) and back with no more than 1/4 throttle the turbos seem to be VERY hot (the water boils in the water feed...)

Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is perhaps something was in the outlet end tank and is not stuck in the plenum...?

Cheers

Dan

Same thing happened to mine a while back. Now if I could just remember what the hell it was realted to, something simple though, like the wrong hose hooked up to EBC or intercooler hose leaking off boost & PowerFC overcompensating.

If the BOV is going off like a steam train it's the same thing I had & it would bunny hop. Sorry I can't be much more help but I know who can - call Jim (?) at SAS - Silverwater Automotive Service - he'll tell you straightaway. Like I said it's something fairly simple, I was speaking with him about this the other day.

Sounds similar - I'll be checking all my hoses today, has to be simple as it was fine before... (BOV's worked without issue before...)

Cheers

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
