how the hell is the RS4 S faster than the 260RS?

Haha you know it is, makes perfect sense! Well in the world of GT4 the RS4 makes a max 590HP, and about 600Nm @ 3200rpm from memory. Whereas the RS260 makes about 570HP, and a little less torque, but at 4400rpm or so. I assume the Nitrous used adds the same amount of power to either engine, you're not told how much that is so only guessin.

On the strip I'd think the higher rpm torque of the RS260 would be better. However the RS260 can be reduced to 1427kg, the RS4 1360kg, hence the RS4 should be faster. Doesn't reflect real-life, but I'm an RS4 driver so you won't see me complaining :nyaanyaa:

But that time of 9.458 in the RS260 I thought was bloody quick considering the weight difference, just not the fastest Stagea!!

Haha who can beat my 9.433?!!? I see its getting close!!

Jesus! And I was going to change a gearbox this evening... guess thats off. Screenshot!?!?

Yep,

RS Four S tunnnned (almost 200K credits for everything):

gt4_rsfour.jpg

and my best 260RS time:

Running as close to the same settings as possible in both cars.

I am a really sucky driver so someone can beat this time I am sure, just think drag car/traction and you will get it there pretty easy, maybe a bit of luck!

Cheers

Luke

So, are you guys hitting the rev limiter in 5th, or at least 4th by the 400m line? If not, id say you could make the ratios shorter.

Try to make the car shift at the point where the power starts to drop off, then it shift into a point where the power is almost peak.

Also, id say its safe to assume that the NOS just makes a "boost" of power through the entire powerband, meaning peak power etc will all be at the same time.

Yeah I have been lazy to date, have just used the overall ratio thing to bring them all down to the point when I get the limiter light falshing in 6th as I hit the line. 1/2/3 shift so fast then spend a bit more in 4th then most in 5th. I will have to look into that!

what specs have you guys been tuning to get such low times, at the moment im getting 11second passes

Have you got 500+KW and Qualifying tyres? Basically, full power mods, tune the gearbox to use all six over the quarter, use traction control and auto gearbox mode. You should get into the 10's with that easy, just holding it flat...

Not sure if we are sharing too much more yet??? But it's all in there.

:D

    • Ha, I've never pressed the X in all these years incase it removed the notification for all Admins
    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
