Illegal as far as I know....they made special mention on these wings on current affair hoon special a while ago...saying that it may chop someones head off in the event of an accident :)

BTW, I spotted you today I think as I was heading to moss st in the afternoon...drove right past you..couldn't miss those black work meisters!

Oh man yeah i saw that section on the news abt hoons and the police cracking down on them...defects galore manz....sheesh actually i don't intend to use my gt wing on the streets, i just want to put it on at home and drive with it to the track and then from the track back home that's all...its kindda impossible fer me to transport it there n fit it on there itself...

Yeah i was around the slacks creek area this afternoon, actually i was getting a bit lost...so didnt really notice ya driving past me... i was trying to find the 101 workshop to ask if they could fabricate my battery bracket fer me...kindda in a rush to get my dry cell battery in fer track day next week...

The rules state there are no sharp parts to be protruding from the vehicle and popo may view canards and or wing as a sharp item. I am unsure if its something you may be able to get an engineers cert for however the chances of being done while driving to the track are quite slim. Has happened but you'd have to get a real pig of a cop to give you a ticket if you explained to him that your on your way to the track. Just think about how many ricers you see driving around every day though with big aluminium gt wings hanging out the sides of there lancers though.

lifted from the qld transport website:

Side skirts, front and rear spoilers may be fitted provided road clearance and air flow for brake cooling is not adversely affected. They must not be fitted so that it is likely to increase the risk of bodily injury to any person. All material is to be of a suitable thickness and be free from sharp edges or corners.

Rear spoilers must be within the body shape/outline of the mounting surface (for example boot outline). Minimum thickness of end plates is 4mm and they must be free of sharp edges or corners.

for a list of modification rules, including wheel size, steering wheels size, bonnet scoops etc go to http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/LTASinf...ion_Jan05v2.pdf

well think about it, if you hit somebody they smashed your windscreen rolled over your car and off the back the first thing i would be thinking is sh*t i hope the wing doesnt hurt them

thats not the issue

The issue is if you have a monster length wing that sticks out further than the width of your car, there is a genuine risk that you can cause some serious damage to someone if you come past them a little too close at speed.

There are some wings out there that are that big, and its not too much of a stretch to imagine them causing damage.

some wings are ok, but they generally use the same ruling as a bullbar, no sharp edges pretruding from the vehicle. same with intercoller edges, if u have a cut out front bar and leave the intercooler egde uncovered by the front bar, see ya! i got fined for this in a mates 200.

Well looking from the rear, the width flushes with the fenders, or slightly smaller perhaps..end plates are rounded with no sharp edges....but its definitely wider than the width of the rear boot...

I guess carnards on the front bar are definitely a no-go...

i think the last thing going through anyones mind when getting run over is holy shit he's got a performance spoiler i'm going to die...and i am under the impression that nearly all wings would break or break off after being hit odd 70kg ( example) of dead weight...

9kpm: well i'm happy enough to travel daily without a wing at all..just wanna be able to get to the track in peace with the GT wing on...well i managed to drive to QR this morning with my GT wing on and got there and back safely....there was a traffic bike cop filling up at milton BP with me this morning..i was thinking oh shit...but he didnt even walk over..he saw me but just went to his bike after paying n headed off...phewwww...lol

    • Hi. This is just my curiosity because iam sure the tuner figure something out...but either way i want to ask. The "problem" is that the Nistune ECU (Stagea FW and RB25DET NEO from Stagea) sees many times the speed than the speedo does(he says the speedo show 120 km/h - correct speed and the ECU shows like 510km/h ) I told him that this car/tranny getting speed from rear diff. If iam not mistaken the RB25DET NEO "need" to see tranny speed sensor? (my tranny has the plug for it). So couple of "question" If he connects/wire the speed sensor to the tranny...are the signals gonna intervene and if...what if he disconnects the rear diff one and the speedo stops working? Or the "new" sensor from the tranny "take over" and will not going need the one from diff? As i said i know he figure/get that done...iam just curious to know what are the solutions 🙂
    • Your IACV is set to idle too low. You need to adjust it via the screw Duncan mentioned. From memory it should be 650rpm with the valve electrics unplugged. What is it trying to idle at with the IACV plugged in?
    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
