Never Ending Stereo Problems!

Has anyone installed a recent model clarion HU to a r33 and have had no issues?

Lemme break down my problem:

- old clarion HU stopped putting out sound. Every hump now and then would bring the sound back. The HU lights up etc, read dics etc but no sound.

- so got a new clarion HU (thought we could just plug it in to the old plug). Plugged it in old plug still no sound!!! and is reading dics and lights up etc. The only diff between the plugs is an extra 3amp wire that's supposed to be connected to the battery.

So F@#K, i'm stumped, I'm thinking that when we removed the rear seats we must have trodded on some wire with the seats. WHo knows, nfi anymore with this damn stereo prob.

Any thoughts u guys can provide would be helpful!!

Most likely you have a short in the speaker wiring somewhere.

To Test.

1 - Get a multimetre. Check each speaker wire for a short to earth (car body)

or if you dont have a multimetre.

- Connect the units constant 12v, acc 12 and earth so it powers up,

- turn the volume to half way

- connect one speaker wire at a time to the unit

- when units stops making sound you have found your short

- replace that speaker wire/speaker

Just becareful not to let the "magic smoke" out of your unit, you wont be able to put it back in, and it wont work to good without it.
