Hey Guys,

Just registered here and im probably gonna be posting a fair bit around here now cause for a long time now i have waited for my r33 to come from Japan and finally, it will be here on august 7! Very excited, i have dealt with J-spec and they have been great....just wanting a bit of advice once it lands here and i have it on the road :D

By the way, pics can be viewed here: www.j-spec.com.au/clients/5478

Ok so the car lands on the 7th, is complied and registered on the 15th. Should i take the car to a mechanic straight away for a full service and clean up? or does compliance take care of that?

Premium or normal fuel?

every 5000kms for a service or a bit longer?

is bumping up the boost a couple of psi a bad idea on a stock turbo?

is anyone selling a rear lip wing for the top of the boot to replace the wing? :)

and is anyone on the sunshine coast here a big enthusiast as myself about skylines? :)

--------------

Some answers would be great :P

If you can think of anything else i might to to consider, please do let me know :P

cheers guys.

I think they change all fluids as part of compliance? I don't know if I'd trust the compliance place to do a good job anyway so maybe change them yourself with good quality fluids if you're mechanically minded or take it to a mechanic you trust. Depending on how many km's it's done and whether or not you think they're genuine etc may be wise to change your timing belt/water pump etc as preventative maintenance. Maybe put it on the dyno to make sure it's running safe, fuel pump is healthy etc.

Premium duuuuude, preeeeeemium! :)

I would change oil at least every 5000kms since it's turbo.

Any increase in psi will reduce the life of the turbo, so it's up to you. Anything over 14psi I believe will result in the ceramic exhaust wheel coming off? Also may want to look at getting a FMIC if you raise the boost.

Check the for sale section for the wing, or just call somewhere that sells bodkits like Jetspeed and see if they have any.

Yes, I think you'll find there are a few sunshine coast skyline enthusiasts around.

Others will be able to give you more advice.

Nice R33, I like the white ones :) How much did you pay for it landed and complied if you dont mind me asking?

Hey cogs,

thanks heaps for the quick reply dude.

Ok your questions ummmm....

+ I beleive compliance includes a standard emissions test, and in order to pass they have to change all the fluids bla bla bla. So dunno if theyd use decent products, probably worth asking :(

+ The 33 is costing me $12,600 landed and complied, so far the car, the compliance and all the nitty gritty has been paid for. Just the shipping fee's to come once its landed :D

111,000kms on the clock and the video of it on the dyno showed it @ 194kW's....so not too shabby for a 94 model i thought.

No engine mods, 17" volk racing rims and newish tyres. =)

194rwkw's = engine mods have been done

you've probalby got an aftermarket exhaust/FMIC/boost controller in there already

i would consider a full service yourself and consider changing the timing belt unless you can be 100% certain that its already been done recently. The do change fluids and the like t compliance but this is the law - don't expect them to put more than the cheapest oil in the car.

there is a wealth of information on these forums. Use the search tool and you will find so much info that it's not funny

also, there is an official club that QLD owners can join fior cruises, drag days, etc. See the link at the top of the QLD section

happy skylining!

Warren

Not saying anything bad about importers but you may find that your line does not get here on the day as planed, as above I suggest getting a full service and dyno done to check that everything is in the black and not the red!

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
