3 Things...

As the topic says what size is the std exhaust on a R33 GTS-T?

Also if i upgrade IC & add boost (10psi) i know it is beneficial but is it NECCESSARY to increase exhaust size???

Lastly what do you guys think of just getting a 3" from turbo back with a split dump pipe & high flow cat but leaving cat back exhaust as std?

I dont want people blasting me saying im stupid etc especially since i have not done any of the above but i would like to hear your informative opinions & reasons why & why not.

Thanks

Hi Noel, Sort out your battery issue?

yea thanks I got myself a 450CCA battery (MF55B24R) from Supercharge Batteries http://www.supercharge.com.au/ in Arndell Park & problem is now solved ;-)

yea but is it neccessary to do it (exhaust) if i up the boost to 10psi & get get a better IC? or is it just better to do it?

if its gonna cause damage to my car cause i have a std exhaust i wont boost it all all but if its gonna be fine and just wont go as well as it could, i'll do it & leave exhaust (for now) especially since i love it being quiet as a mouse atm with the std exhaust.

Thanks

there is no point upping the boost on a stock exhaust. it won't be able to flow enough air to make it worthwhile. you need to be able to let the air out properly before you start pumping more in. also it will hold more heat in.

makes sense...

what about just getting 3" turbo back/split-dump & cat vs just getting 3" cat back exhaust?

I know both is the ideal but if i were to get one or the other which would be more beneficial?

Thanks guys..i am just interested on peoples opinions/feedback on these ideas?

Cheers

Noel

a full turbo back is going to give a better power increase, as well as get cool the turbo slightly (the hot gases can flow away from the turbo faster). generally if you get it in 1 hit (like a full x-force turbo back system) it works out a bit cheaper than buying a cat back, cat and front pipe seperately. just depends on what you want. if you were going to just get a cat back i'd get the cat at the same time.

Yeah id deffinately get the hole system it will help make the whole set up much more efficient. I also found my boost went up a couple psi by having the split dump and turbo back exhaust due to the much better flow.

    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
    • Probably. I take it that they are also mentioned to be for R34 Skyline? For example.... RDA has that part as RDA7957. I have the dimpled and slotted version of that on my car https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/285518478694?srsltid=AfmBOopKxMuAFpsxZJdB1cam4D5RAj1f9yJyOttPZLAwXVNCOiwlhrIy This is DBA's top one piece equivalent https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364246686631?srsltid=AfmBOorbb0XHQgqTvZLgQPhg70nqJtGvdojKnugum3O2LFSr2h-obp8D
    • Ok i will get those 310mm. I found one but on a different site. This is the description on those...is it ok? Technical parameters: - Axle: front. - Disc type: ventilated. - Number of holes: 5. - Disc diameter: 310mm. - Total height with center: 54mm. - Thickness (new/min.): 30/28mm. - Designed for brake calipers manufacturer: Sumitomo.
