You know which plug it is ??

Ive got the workshop manual , looked 2nite for ages but couldnt find it anywhere !! :P

do it in the garage before you start the car. you dont have to wait for 20 mins before you do it.

we all wanna know how it goes! :)

you dont need to take them out...just unplug their electrical plugs and go for a drive

have a look at your 2 dump pipes. there should be what looks like a sparkplug, sticking out of each pipe. this is the o2 sensor.

now, off this sensor there are wires that lead to a plug. unclip the plug and the o2 sensor is disabled. yay!

Ok ive unplugged those 2 cables (ive attached a pic too just to make sure they were the correct ones)

Drove the car for about 20 mins and it seemed fine, going to take it out later 2nite for a longer spin to see what happens so im not 100% sure its fixed the problem. Ill post again when i get home.

Just say it IS the o2 sensors, what damage will I do if i continue to drive with them unplugged ??

Im assuming it will just run rich and use lots of fuel and the spark plugs life will be reduced ... is this right ?? or wrong ?? :( hehe ... and yea will the motor be ok to run like this over long periods of time...

Naa still same problem as before with or without the o2 sensors plugged in :(

the o2 sensors only lean out the mixture when cruising ie constant thottle load

theyre leaning out a mixture that is already quite stoich to one that is on the lean-side that would otherwise cause detonation on higher loads. so to answer your question...it will use a little more fuel if youre doing freeway driving but not a hell of a lot more.

your plugs and everything will be fine.

depends...on fine injector openings there may only be a little bit of gunk, but just enough to obscure flow. when the injector opens a little more and for longer, then the squirt of fuel may have a clearer path through to the cylinder.

i reckon its good insurance to know that youre injectors are clean and serviced anyway rather than having to rebuild a motor cause one may eventually leak and BANG! due to starvation on boost.

Did you ever find the cause of this??

One of my GTR's has develpoed a hessitstion on cruise, I looked at it with consult today and the O2 sensors are flat lining when they should be cycling.

Strange thing is the sensors in the vehicle are only 3000Km's old and unplugging them makes no difference. I also have power and ground to the heated elements and continuity back to the ECM.

I know my vehicle needs new sensors and id suspect yours does as well. If you have access to an ossiliscope id suggest looking the at the sensors with it and see of they are cycling on cruise or not.

Yea i did ... well kinda , try taking out your 4wd fuse and take it for a spin , see if it still does it ... because mine dont when its only 2wd ... at the shops at the moment  ... dammit seen a few around today .. i want it baaaaack Ü

02 sensors richen the mixtures as well - under criuse condtions.

Wow just read back through all the post - man there is some misinformation here. 1 of them above the other being that cars run richer when cold as the atomisation isn't as good. Three the 02 sensor doesn't operate until about 65deg Celcius on most GTR's.

Can you descirbe the problem again please.

ok. next step.. aply a direct batery voltage to the fuel pump.

(run a wire from the batery to the fuel pump and a direct earth wire to the negative of the fuel pump aswell)

basicly to eliminate any fuel pump controler issues...wich are common

Interesting question about the air filters

Why do you ask this??

Im asuming you want to know if he as oiled filters as oposed to dry mesh types?

Mine also runs fine in 2wd but not all the time. Occasionally it gives a bit of a splutter.

I have also recently noticed the front tourqe guage goes up a little when accelerating even though its only light acceleration and the thing is not driving the front wheels.

Probably going to be a grounding issue

Is this question for me ??

ive got a set of hks airpods ... non oil filters.

Alot of GTRs have an AFM connection problem mine is doin it now. will it hit a safe mode when driving? i had the same problem sort of too i change the fuel filter and a hose. injector clean and new plugs and regap and it still did it. heat shielded my AFM with alfoil and its good. have to do the full fix soon though started to stutter again.

mark.

02 sensors richen the mixtures as well - under criuse condtions.

dont they just 'switch off' so to speak , once an unsuitable load is detected to run a leaner mixture safely ?

anyway, i unplugged my 0xy sensors and it fixed my hesitation.

rob: i didnt think it was too far off the mark re: cold mixture. granted the exhaust gases wouldnt be overly richer, but fuel maps enrichen with cold water temps..dont they?

i think i got the same problem when i warms up wont boost past 10psi and can hear the bovs going nuts, dose this happen to u guys causing its really pissing me off, but if i turn the car off for bout 10 secs its fine again.. is this the same problem?

similar problem yes.

Do me a favour and check your ambient temp on the climate control.

When my car plays up the ambient temp is WAY higher than the real temperature. I mean it reads 32 degrees on a 10 degree night!!

Points towards a grounding problem to me.

    • The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf
    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
    • Does the scanner do all the CUs in the car, or only the ECU?
    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
