So long as you're looking at a sensible sized gauge - I honestly wouldn't stress about it.

As long as it doesn't impede your vision - nor sit as an obvious hazard, then do it. Worst case, someone will ask you to move it. The HUGE gauges are just stupid for street use anyway.

Here was my old setup (sniff) - as I said, a-pillar and RSM/AVCR were never an issue.

Looks nice. May i ask where you got the 52mm Defi's????? Been looking for some good quality 52mm gauges for a while to custom fit them in the gtr oem 3 gauge holder. Or are those defi's the actuall kit that you can buy which comes with the 3 defi's in a din dash?

Thanks :D

Don't know where you guys are getting your info from but I looked into this pretty carefully before fitting my gauges. According to Vicroads (unless someone corrects me otherwise) -

* the gauge cannot obstruct the drivers vision

* the gauge cannot be put in a spot where either the driver or passengers head would make contact in an accident. ie no a-pillar, not on the 'front' face of the dash (like just above the glovebox in a 33)

so where does that leave? where did you put yours?

On top of the dash on the passenger side

the gauge cannot be put in a spot where either the driver or passengers head would make contact in an accident. ie no a-pillar, not on the 'front' face of the dash (like just above the glovebox in a 33)

:) not there either

    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
