  1. Reading the stories and watching Aaron's video makes me miss these. So much fun.
  2. Have been through this recently. Tennants in Common as Ruffel's said is the more common way of doing this. Mine was a simple 4 pager but had a few other clauses in there including minimum sale price, permission to reside in the property etc (is rented out at the moment). Few tricks can be done with the mortgage too so you can each have your own subset of the overall. Definately recommend getting a lawyer to do it. Max $1000, any more and it is getting too complex and they are spending too much time on it. Don't forget all the other things a bank looks for though, savings history, rental history etc.
  3. Great write up mate, interesting read. Look forward to seeing it in person soon.
  4. MRZHOU sat at lights near my place. Superb sounding car, found a clip of it on youtube too from Crown. LP640 I believe.
  5. Getting out of a fine is not hard. Being on P's didnt used to do you any favours (and infact they used to honor the fine and points) but times might have changed. As much as it frustrates me to plead guilty and ask for forgiveness in the 4kph over on a highway bracket, the issuing officer has always written back a warning and removed the 1 point and fine.
  6. Not mine mate but I know they wouldn't be interested in renting out as people have asked before. It is rare, only 12 came into the country and is old now as well (2001). To be honest, I wouldn't be going out into the bay anymore on it, has broken down enough times! Heading out on Boxing Day so will post some pics up on Facebook.
  7. A boating licence with a PWC endorsement. Had mine for about 7 years now. Don't use the jetski as much as we used to, they get boring after a while and taking out in the bay means a good clean after to flush the salt out. All the water has meant the lakes are nice and full.
  8. Well done guys, great read.
  9. Great pics, BMW one is ace! As nice as Europe and the US are, it does make me appreciate Australia all the more each time I come back. Cycling along Beach Road to and from work, great coffee and weather. Really is the complete package in Australia for me.
  10. One more set from memory after the servo on the way out.
  11. The transfer between States is only very recent and may not apply to all scenarios. With a cancelled licence in Vic, someone who shall remain nameless relocated to QLD and got his licence up there nearly 2 years ago. However he has since gone to renew his QLD licence as he eventually moved up there anyway and his Vic points have now been added. This was back in August. I came to Australia at 19 with my UK licence (the UK licence used to be on watermarked paper before photocards). I was able to drive freely with no P's and once I realised I would be here longer than 3 months, sat my test. I only had to do a theory test as the UK test is hard but the main reason for getting the Vic licence was to start getting a credit history. When they issued it, they put a black stamp on my UK licence saying Vic Roads Licence Issued XX/XX/XX. This was incase I handed my paper one over if I was stopped. Just applied for a new photocard one a few weeks later and said I had lost my UK paper one. As for points, they don't accrue on an international licence, however if you are Aussie living O/S but back here driving on holiday and get pinged with a camera, they will pursue to your country of residence! This is from experience.
  12. Happy Birthday old timer, welcome to the club. Lunch soon.

    Car Finance

Have done a number of these over the years so my 2c: Evo VII was through Esanda. They were ok and accepted it being an import. Evo VIII MR was also through Esanda as they had everything on file (had changed jobs but kept it as my previous one). Cooper S was through Alphera as bought it from BMW S4 through Alphera as BMW had all details. I can't stand wasting time and sitting on a phone/faxing/scanning docs is a pet hate. I juggled the residuals with them and it will depend on whether you intend to keep the car long term. If you take it over 3-5 years and put a high (ish) residual on it, payments are lower and when you sell, you pay it out. This is good if you need surplus income each month. If you want to keep it long term, make the payments higher so you are not hit with $5-$10K + balloon at the end. Also looked at novated options (drawing on Ferni's expertise) but instead just claimed the business usage seperately. VII's are good value now, looking again myself. S4 for grabs if interested
  14. DECA is 20th this month up at Shepparton. A number of people head up on the Friday (19th) though. You don't have to compete but most people wish they had after watching for a couple of runs. Accomodation thread is up but is in the members area. Highly recommend signing up and a commodore isn't out of place anywhere in the club. Great bunch of guys and girls.
  15. LOL and I nearly posted "welcome to 2007" after just reading the title. Lucky I read the first post too!
  16. Have you been living under a rock!? It has had a feature pretty much every working day for the past 2 weeks on The Age, all over the TV news and Herald Sun site too. And yes as Tek says, Parity.
  17. Red starts flashing is very confusing as the US has. When you almost parallel and can only see one side of the back, it is impossible to tell if they have put on their indicator (not a common occurance) or they are braking. One brake light out, you may as well give up trying to guess! Easier to tell if the road is quiet as they wouldn't be braking but in traffic, it is a nightmare. They have it on home grown cars as well as Europeans. Amber FTW.
  18. Exactly right. Works really well in the UK and certainly made life in the French speaking part of Canada a lot easier knowing our exit was in 94 exit's time when you don't have the Canada maps in the loan GPS, cough cough....
  19. That car looks awesome Dave! White is super clean. Sorry to hijack - My B6 S4 is up for sale at the moment. It is stock with low km's but isn't an urgent sale as is a great car.
  20. Will spare a thought from LA as I commence the drive up to San Fran when the meeting kicks off. See you all soon
  21. I used to have one in the Evo (came with it from previous owner) but the ignition key still needed to be on accesories for it to work. Cool but wouldn't put one in myself.
  22. I opened the MX on the train tonight and was going to come on here to start the same thread! Made me laugh!
  23. It was verified by a further 2 independant parties, both who I didn't know prior. The damage was consistent with wear over a duration not hard impact. There was another part to it which will type up later where we were able to confirm it occuring it over a duration and not quickly. Walls wise, could put my fingers into the deep scoring as the wall had collapsed.
  24. I hear what you are saying and recently (6 months ago) went through this myself. Mine was a little more obvious, infact blatently. I bought my current car from a guy who had a very reasonable professional status, car was less than 6 years old and in what appeared to be very very good condition. After buying it, I had it serviced within the first 6 weeks as it hadn't been serviced for a while due to it doing hardly any km's. Upon handing it to Audi, they noticed straight away that both inside front tyre walls had collapsed! Collapsed as in I could put my fingers through the walls! I had been driving it for 6 weeks like this, albeit weekends only but represented about 2000kms. I called the previous owner and the RWC place who knew it each other. The seller was very apologetic and offered to do anything to assist in getting it fixed short of paying for the tyres (e.g. talk to the RWC guy etc). I paid a visit to the RWC place near Springvale and due in part to his lack of English and other part not wanting to admit anything, offered to do nothing except suggest the seller pay. I was caught between 2 people, neither who would pay and because it was 6 weeks not 28 days, refused to do anything. The guy had just given the vehicle the once over without it even going on a ramp so wouldn't have known the condition of the inside of the tyre walls. I called Vic Roads to understand where I stood and was told to provide the details of the workshop and an inspector would be sent round and if it could be proven, they would be issued a warning/black mark on file. I would get nothing out of it as it became a civil matter to recoup the costs. I don't fancy your chances and I have made my mind up with who I deal with in future and will be sussing the RWC place AND the seller out prior to handing cash over.
