Hey guys and girls.

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with getting to view or have footage off a security camera from a Westfield shopping center (or any shopping center).

My car was keyed last Saturday (22nd) and I have a strong feeling it was someone I know.

My car was parked on the roof of the center, in the Staff carpark. The shops where so busy on the day they kindly unlocked the gates and let other shoppers into the staff carpark.

I am after looking at the footage quickly, to see if it actually is anyone I know. If it wasn't, then I'd just sigh and be on my way.

I went to center management when I noticed the two key scratches, and a security guard took my details and said he would "put them on the computer". I asked if I could see the footage and he said "I'll put your details in and call you".

I went in today, asking if I could see it, the girl said " What actually happened?" - I said it was keyed. She then said "Hold on a second", she went into a room, spoke to a man, came out and said "there are no cameras up there". I went "None at all?" She went back into the room, and came out and said "Nope".

I know for a fact I have seen atleast 1 camera up there (as they park their courtesy bus in there).

So now I'm asking if anyone knows what I can do? Or what they have done in this situation?

Yeah sure it might be a bit over the top for 2 key scratches, but I'm going to have to get these fixed (as they are to the metal and long), and I am very curious to as who has done this to my car. So please don't post "who cares, you will get over it".

Thanks in advance,

Brett

no experience with security ;\

only safe car park i know of (cos a mate was a security guard there and they've got heaps of cameras everywhere - ive also seen security footage of ppl caught doing hit and run type shit and number plates are clearly visible) is Auburn Reading Cinemas - only public carpark i've parked my old gtst in.

ive never left any of my skylines in a shopping centre car park for more than 5mins..

Good luck getting anything from Westfield... when my car was broken into; they did nothing but "helped" - my ass!

Yeah I remember when your car got broken into. I don't remember the response on security though.. Guess I know now.

I had a double check at the carpark this-arvo after I posted this thread. There is 1 camera (which I can't see where it is being pointed - and it's next to a Satellite and stuff which is fully enclosed).

So even with that camera I doubt it would of seen my car (as there are Sails everywhere).

Guess there goes any hope. No cameras and a "park at your own risk" sign doesn't leave me with too much hope.

i work at a westfields and they dont do sh*t... our store got robbed overnight and all they said was oh "they were good, we didnt even get any footage of them"

WTF?! inside the westfields!! think of a carpark.....

front bar on my 33 got smashed at a westfields carpark too.. they said we can make a report thats it... and i askt for cameras and they said they dont record the carpark... some security

i 2nd that, only carpark id park my skyline in, there is always modified cars in there because its safe, and security walks around all the time.

I'd say that the camera is fake just to scare people away. Westfield are so completly crap we had no water at work the other day and they didn't give two hoots.

Don't hold your breath that they will do anything for you. It's a way bad lesson to learn but at least its not to much damage.

I have seen someone hit a car and do a fair bit of damage and just drive off.

As someone else said don't leave your car anywhere. I never leave my car anywhere at all.

wtf guys think ur being a bit alarmist u have to live ur life im not going to camp next to my car waiting for something to happen

i just never drove my car to a shpping center.

if i had to go somewhere like, i'd go home and get the shitter, if not i'd just not go to the shops.

yeah what HANYOU said. My sister used to work in a shop in westifield and she got robbed while serving a "DUMMY" customer. asked for video footage but to no avail even the cops didnt do anything.

she Also complained about security staff at night they once tryed to get to "close" in the car park. but also to no avail.i went searching for the prick security guard the next day but apparently didnt work there anymore (utter bullshit). You know ill find you one day buddy !!!

Its bullshit that such a big company cant provide video evidence in any such crimminal cases. hope they get sued the shit out of one day. wanka's. rant/off

OMG u know what i saw the other day..

A sign in westfield parkin, like in some dodgy spot, saying we do not held resposible for any damages or thefts to your vechile.

WHAT THE HELL DO WE PAY THEM FOR!!!! such a huge ass company who makes millions of profit, and cant even put simple cameras in..

  • 10 months later...

Just so you know .. Westfields verbal complaints are not logged writen complaints are logged and followed up! any unfollowed complaints begin to go up the food chain .. so got a problem write it down the old fashioned way!

the only camera I know of are the ones behind the gates and it takes your rego while you take your ticket and they make sure you don't come back for another 3 hour freebe. They are VERY good at that.

bad luck mate

yehh ud think making millions they could at least put a few more cameras

and to think some people stay more than 3 hrs and have to pay, while starring at a sign saying they are not liable for any damages..........

Fu#@ tight a$$ Frank

should scratch his face with a key

Post a sign on his body, we are not liable for any damage caused to ur face !

My bonnet got keyed outside a club, right outside the door, in front of 4 bouncers

and they "didnt see a thing" yerr right orib one of them doing it........

mutha FU#@%

    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
    • OK, so again it has been a bit of a break but it was around researching what had been done since I didn't have access to Neil's records and not everything is obvious without pulling stuff apart. Happily the guy who assembled the engine had kept reasonable records, so we now know the final spec is: Bottom end: Standard block and crank Ross 86.5mm forgies, 9:1 compression Spool forged rods Standard main bolts Oil pump Spool billet gears in standard housing Aeroflow extended and baffled sump Head Freshly rebuilt standard head with new 80lb valve springs Mild porting/port match Head oil feed restrictor VCT disabled Tighe 805C reground cams (255 duration, 8.93 lift)  Adjustable cam gears on inlet/exhaust Standard head bolts, gasket not confirmed but assumed MLS External 555cc Nismo injectors Z32 AFM Bosch 023 Intank fuel pump Garret 2871 (factory housings and manifold) Hypertune FFP plenum with standard throttle   Time to book in a trip to Unigroup
    • I forgot about my shiny new plates!
    • Well, apparently they do fit, however this wont be a problem if not because the car will be stationary while i do the suspension work. I was just going to use the 16's to roll the old girl around if I needed to. I just need to get the E90 back on the road first. Yes! I'm a believer! 🙌 So, I contacted them because the site kinda sucks and I was really confused about what I'd need. They put together a package for me and because I was spraying all the seat surfaces and not doing spot fixes I decided not to send them a headrest to colour match, I just used their colour on file (and it was spot on).  I got some heavy duty cleaner, 1L of colour, a small bottle of dye hardener and a small bottle of the dye top coat. I also got a spray gun as I needed a larger nozzle than the gun I had and it was only $40 extra. From memory the total was ~$450 ish. Its not cheap but the result is awesome. They did add repair bits and pieces to the quote originally and the cost came down significantly when I said I didn't need any repair products. I did it over a weekend. The only issues I had were my own; I forgot to mix the hardener into the dye two coats but I had enough dye for 2 more coats with the hardener. I also just used up all the dye because why not and i rushed the last coat which gave me some runs. Thankfully the runs are under the headrests. The gun pattern wasn't great, very round and would have been better if it was a line. It made it a little tricky to get consistent coverage and I think having done the extra coats probably helped conceal any coverage issues. I contacted them again a few months later so I could get our X5 done (who the f**k thought white leather was a good idea for a family car?!) and they said they had some training to do in Sydney and I could get a reduced rate on the leather fix in the X5 if I let them demo their product on our car. So I agreed. When I took Bec in the E39 to pick it up, I showed them the job I'd done in my car and they were all (students included) really impressed. Note that they said the runs I created could be fixed easily at the time with a brush or an air compressor gun. So, now with the two cars done I can absolutely recommend Colourlock.  I'll take pics of both interiors and create a new thread.
