I'm thinking of selling the Cefiro. 89 model. I'm going to put it back to as stock as possible.

Only mods will be:

Front mount

Turbo from R33

Tints 15%

Full exhaust from turbo back

Walbro fuel pump

Had $2k spent on engine, seals, timming belt, bearing etc

AVS model 6 rims 16"

JIC ciolovers that probably need rebuilding.

Autech front bar and skirts

Needs some pannel work on front left guard, paint on roof fading.

How much does everyone think i could sell it for? How difficult are they to sell? i'd like to get $11-$12k

It does have good coilovers in it atm. I just thought i wouldn't get the money for them if they went with the car. They are only 1.5 years old. And paint isn't that good. 90% of the car has good paint, just the roof and a few rough spots. So maybe i'll have to look at $10k

Yes thats it, i'm a f4g.

I actually haven't decided yet. The reason i'm thinking about it is i've imported a '97 180sx that i was planning on selling. But now that its arrived i kind of like it. Biggest selling point is that it's so new compared to the Cefiro. When you get in the car you can really tell the difference. I haven't driven the 180 yet so i don't know if i'll like it as much as the ceffy. I really love the Cefiro, thats why this is such a hard decision. Every day i seem to change my mind.

Here's some pics of the 180 i took yesterday at the compliance place.

Looks like a nice example! I went from a 180sx to a Cefiro but I also went from a SR20 to a RB25. 180's are a damn nice car, the SR is a tough motor and so easy to make power out of.

I think you will be happy with either car from the sounds of it.

One thing to consider the coilovers will go directly into your 180, and vise vera. Therefore if you put the cefiro up for sale you have room to move on price.

The 180 came with Teins. But yeah i would pull out all the suspention mods on the ceffy and put them on the 180. And if it doesn't have a mech diff i'll be swapping that over as well. i'll just loose all the engine mods. I reckon i've spent about $4.5k that i won't get back. So i have to weigh that up as well. The idea of things not wearing out every month is what is most appealing.

94 - 98 had digital climate control. 96 onwards had 180sx stamped on nicer seats and updated dash with digital odo. 96+ also had updated taillights and bodykit. Having owned a 91 model and driven quite a few 96+ models I would definitely be happy owning a 97 model, just a much nicer car inside. Keep in mind the blacktop SR20DET is like the redtop in that is doesnt have VCT.

From a sensible point of view. How much are you going to get from the sale of either or. Then compaire that to fuel economy, maintance, resale value in say 2 years time, parts blah blah etc.

Im at the point now where I either go spend $10k on the cef on new door rubbers, carpet, dash, rebuild the diff, new engine etc, or sell it and buy a new car. Either way its going to work out about the same money. That or a put up with an old car.

Long term the 180 is the sensible option. Newer car, newer engine. less likely to break/wear out things.

Short term i'll earn money selling the 180, whereas it will cost me money to sell the ceff and keep the 180.

other draw back is I know i'll want to mod the 180 if i get it. Whereas i'm pretty happy with the performance of the ceff right now. It's just the condition of the rest of the car that would need attention down the track.

gees Drew dont go and circum to the pain of not owning a Cefiro :P

Do what i am doing and liven up the old girl yourself.... nothing like a bit of elbow grease and gazillion weekends cleaning up a Cefiro....

    • If you mean the alarm immobiliser; theyre internal to the alarm itself which makes that difficult; I couldnt even see where he put it; its not in the same place as last time; but with all black wiring it might be very challenging to trace  I had someone turn the key for me as I know it only primes for a couple of seconds As my post above; I am getting no voltage to the pump at all; but I am testing continuity of the power line (SB) from the pump plug to the relay fine. As well as the negative from the pump plug to a 12V constant.    Yeah; he blammed the no start on a bad battery; said I needed to get a new battery and it'll start. Turns out the battery drained because the tail lights had been on for half the day during the install (the rubber cushion on the brake switch gave out while he was testing it as I have a picture of the car from that morning with the tail lights off..i've replaced that). The battery was turning over the engine just fine for a long time; but got low since lights were draining it so it was too low to test a start after he finished. I bought a new one on his advice...$250 wasted. My original battery charged up just fine and is healthy.    It was running perfectly fine when I messed up the old alarm (programmed out the remotes). He couldnt start it after removing the old alarm; my assumption is that when he unhooked it; he didnt bridge the circuit back when trying to start it. Its always been perfectly fine. The ECU swap and pump were 2 years ago. It's never missed a beat in that time.
    • This is a big issue for me without the diff. I just have zero drive from the passenger side when drivers side has no traction. Bec's parents place has a crazy steep driveway with odd camber and I have never been able to get up. My bro-in-law's 130i with an (unknown brand) LSD gets up fine as does their dad's Hiace. My car stays at the bottom. We have other odd camber roads around here as we're elevated a bit and if it's raining I can get totally stuck around some hairpins.
    • Yeah, I am super excited for this.
    • Was the car running before he touched the car?
