Ok so i got a r32 gts-t, with mods listed in my signature thingo, and was wondering a few things

it hits peak kilowatts at 5800rpm, then drops about 3 kilowatts to about 6300rpm, So in 1st, 2nd 3rd, i should be shifting at 5800rpm?

Other question is about taking off. Do i slip the clutch from like 5krpm to get moving, or drop the clutch high enough so that it spins once or twice (about 3.5krpm), or do i drop it lower so that it doesnt spin at all, or do i drop it high so that it spins for a bit then takes off, which? It starts coming onto boost at about 3krpm hits peak at about 4.2

Taking it to calder this weekend, also wondering what sort of time should i be expecting? I wanted a mid 13 pass, but the bloke who tuned it said more like 13.8-9. Its got SPMAXX dunlops on the back (45 series) on some 17X7 rims with plenty of tread. Im not sure about the suspension but it seems pretty hard unfortunately (i assume its that which gives me copious spinage into 2nd) Er also is it worthwile dropping my tyre pressure to like 28psi? its about 38 now.

You'll be aiming at a High 13 with 170@wheels.

Drop it in from3.5k and dont slam your gear changes cause at Calder you'll get a shit load of whellspin. Just change slightly quicker than you normally would and ease the power on for he first coulpe gears. it makes a big difference, it cut my time by 0.35 of a sec

Put some MT street radials on it.

ahh ok cheers, any one else can answer a few questions it'd be much appreciated (think i asked to many :)) in particular the first one about shift points

yeh ok, i know that good suspension and tyres as well as wheel size will make my 1/4's faster but, im not really interested in any of that. Only want to know how to drive really, not what to drive as i want my car to be capable on the street of what its capable of on the strip

any one else? (in particular the first one about shift points)

You're mising the point here. Drag racing is done on a drag strip, which has nothing in common with the street. The available traction on a prepared drag strip will never be approached on a street. Nor do streets have staging lights or timing equipment.

Therefore the techniques used to launch hard at the drag strip bear nothing in common to "launching" hard on the street. The RPMs you can use are different. The rubber you can use is different. The clutch techniques are different.

With street radials on a pure street car at a drag strip, then you would launch with a high RPM as you can possibly get away with, provided you get no more than 10% wheelspin. You want to aim to avoid bogging down (not enough RPMs) and avoid smoking the tyres (too much RPMs). The sweet spot is in the middle there with some wheelspin, but it's not as easy as it looks. That's what drag racing is all about - the launch.

I'd recommend you use your clutch to modulate the power transferred to the rear wheels, even if that means not fully letting the clutch out before you reach second gear. Same goes for each gear change.

This will shorten the life of your clutch.

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
