hi all.

i want to fit a short throw shifter to my S2, as i had one in my last manual car (chev powered lx torana hatchback) but would like to know what model will fit from the other model nissans, i can get a second hand one from a wreckers out of an r32 GTR but it will need a new rubber boot, and gasket set, but at $150 i thought he was a bit steep?

have had a look on a couple of the businesses in the classifieds on here but there wasn't much in there for us, hence why i would like to know what we cross-reference with, and where i would get one, and also how much i should expect to pay for it.

even some tips on how to fit would be good too,as in how much of the interior do i have to pullout to get to it? do i have to pull the box out to do it? all those sorts of things, if any one can give a guiding hand would be great

Nismo and C's make short shifter's for the Nissan boxes

Nismo ones are approx 10% shorter in throw and in stick height and have a good feel.

I had one in my R33 and loved it, and have just boought another one for my Stagea manual conversion

Got it from Nengun. Was under $200 delivered

The C's shifter are approx 30% less throw and have been known to be a bit harder to use which can cause you to miss gear's, plus they have been known to be a bit noisey sometimes. cost is over $300 new

Install is easy. Just remove your interior gear stick surround and rubber boot around the gear stick

Pop out the retaining C clip and swap over.

I am sure there would be something in the DIY section on install

darrinspencer, is the nismo short shifter resulted in any noticeable more road/gearbox noise transferred into the cabin?

I had C's on 2 yrs ago and find out it's very noisy on my gearbox, and it won't trigger the reverse light sensor when the gear selector is put into reverse. I had it taken out immediately and stay with stock shifter until today.

Nismo shifter performed exactly like the factory shifter but with a quicker throw

That is why I have just bought another one

No noise or vibration thru the stick

hi again guys here is my vin number 6V900wgnc34127902

but i would still like to know where you guys have got your shifters from?

the c west one sounds ok but the C's one would be no good to me ifn it doesn't activate the reverse lights and is noisier etc.

or are they one and the same?

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
