after trying all the 98+ fuels for a long time now, the best one i always thought was BP Ultimate (although there wasnt a massive diff), However recently i been using Vortex 98 and out of all the fuels, i think personally vortex 98 stands out, even more than the Shell 100 RON fuel. This is just my opinion. Fuel economy wise, well how do u ever measure fuel economy? unless you never gun the thing, and lets face it, not many of us would go through a full tank of fuel without pushing it here and there so its really hard to measure fuel economy.

most skyline drivers will need to do an ECU reset and run-in (~1000kms) to notice any differences between fuels

i've been running optimax since i bought my car, and when the fuel prices plummeted i switched up to optimax extreme (v-power racing) and noticed a little increase in response.

I've reset my ECU, just coming up to the optimal run-in mileage now and my car goes like a burnt cat. Stupid amount of response and acceleration, hardly even notice it's an NA

Afaik the 100 octane + 5% ethanol blend is what the japs use and what the skylines are supposed to run on, so that's what's staying in my car from now on, i love it.

yeah i ran the ultimate in my n15 with rnn14 and it was getting about 350-400 per tank ive had the v power racing in for a monthish now and i get 450-500 and i can def notice its alot smoother on accelerating and has bit more punch but nothing over the moon...

mainly use optimax inthe gtr no v power racing on the coast near me yet but have had the ultimate and no defference in both so far.... i have had caltex 98 in the sss and wasnt good but couldve been a bad batch.

just get some martini racing fuel 110ron hehehe

I only use Caltex Vortex or 91 (Not in a skyline, waiting till I am 21 now - just a ford falcon)

It is only about 7c more than 91 at my station, and nambour generally has the cheapest fuel in the sunshine coast (Normal Unleaded was 100.9c today compared to BP 104.9 AND I have to go out of my way to get to BP).

I put a tank of V power in today, I noticed smoother acceleration, cant say its got more power but I do like it, I'll let youz know what mileage is like when I fill up next.

It's funny that we still use the word mileage but kilometreage just dosnt sound right, does it?

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
