How Much Shaft Play Is Ok?

Hi people.. I had my dump pipe off the other week putting on a split dump pipe. I was looking up at the exhaust wheel, just checking all the blades were there etc... I spun the wheel with my fingers and it didnt turn for very long! I made a noise like a dry bearing noise and the shaft had bout 2mm ruffly in and out play! is it shagged? anyone know?

if it was shagged it would probably make jack all boost, chop when coming on boost and make wierd bearing noises. when the car is off the oil line isnt flowing so it probably wont spin as well as it would with optimum operating temperature and a flowing oil line to lube the bearings.

It is a bit laggy.... It starts coming on boost bout 3500 then really starts pulling hard bout 4500..

is this on an rb20 or rb25, if its an rb20...well, thats simple

yeh i have a 34 Neo turbo (dunno if only the "Neo" ones had the exhaust housing the same size as the vg30's or yours is a different size) and it comes onto boost about 3.5k and pulls hard from 4500
