Charcoal Canaster?

As Stated does the removal of the charcoal canaster affect the cars operation? I want to remove it to unclutter my engine bay and install a custom made cai. From what I understand its to do with emmisions and removing hydrocarbons so it really serves no purpose (just like a cat converter lol). I also read somewhere it causes irratic idling would this be true?

don't think it will make much difference, but if you get causght without it you could cop a pretty big fine.

yes you can remove it, just got to plug up the lines to the manifold, how ever if a smart cop or the epa pull u up for a check over you will be in shit for not having it.

If you remove it you will get petrol vapour smell coming into the cabin while stationary when the cars on.

Thanks for the reponses. Don't think I'll bother removing it now, not worth doing my liceince over.
