My experience with Just Car was also good - had my R33 stolen 3 months after purchase and never recovered - it was insured for agreed value. The claim was sorted out efficiently with no resistance and a minimal amount of fuss. Would definately insure with them again.

R32 gtst $14000 agreed with just cars I'm 24 rating 1 and Im paying $920 a year.

Shannons could even come close to that deal.

Yup i just had the same thing $913 for me i'm 24 and rating 1, shannons where $1600

I'm seeing a lot of variation here with Justcar.

When I got my quote, I did it a few times online, same everything entered into the fields and each time it came back different. I finally got $1800 for full comp for R33 Gts-t for full purchase price when I was 19 (mods: Exhaust, pod, stereo).

Now i'm 20 and it dropped to $1,341. I'm pretty happy with that, though they dropped the value of the car by $600.

Has anyone noticed that JCI's excess has gone up though?

In 2005 it was as follows:

$400 Standard

+ $400 for driver under 22 or, $300 for driver over 22 and under 25

+ $700 Due to vehicle and modifications

2006 Now with the car exactly the same:

$400 Standard

+ $600 MALE Drivers 16-21 or, $350 MALE 21-24

(I havent bothered to put in female excess)

+ $700 due to vehicle

So basically my excess has gone up $200 for no reason the pricks.

Oh and one more thing, as far as I can see on all my old Renewals and the PDS there is nothing extra to pay if the car is stolen (apart from the $400+600+700).

But I did a quote online yesterday for shits and giggles to see what they'd give me with different mods and it came back roughly the same, however attached to the bottom was:

Additional Theft Excess: $1000!!!!

So that'd be: $400 + $600 + $ 700 + $1000 if your car gets stolen thankyou very much!

Thats a $2,700 excess for those who are bad at maths.

As far as I can tell however they haven't added this $1000 theft excess onto my insurance policy though? I hope not anyway, its bad enough with the extra $200 on my age.

Sorry, End rant.

i think that the $1000 theft excess is the only amount you pay if your car gets stolen and the $1700 is the amount you pay if you are involved in an accident and are at fault.

of course you wont have to pay these amounts if 1) you were not at fault at an accident and you have the details of the other party or 2) you know who stole the car/police catch the criminal.

You've got my vote Justcar

Yeah I was impressed with (and accepted) their full comp quote for my R32 (with all mods) for $1099 :)

especially since I lost my licence earlier this year for speeding :)

(Friend of mine suggested them cos he has his crazy Verada with them)

Tried getting a quote from Famous but they never got back to me... :(

JCI's service is alright, but their premiums are crap. AAMI is cheaper for me, and I'm only 20. You'd think since JCI are supposed to be the 'cheaper alternative' underwritten by AAMI that it would be the other way around, but it isn't so.

Simply depends on the individuals situation which rates come out better. But you are right at your age you'd expect to be in Just Car's market - not AAMI's. You just can't tell... but you are enjoying better excesses with AAMI I would expect anyway. :P

another happy customer here:

21 with average history ( lisence suspention x1 not at fault acc x3 )

Insuring R33 S1 with fair few mods + sound system and 3K wheels

$1400 year

Just made a claim:

Not at fault accident - Front damage $2500 to fix

and gave me choice of repairer ( they are not even AAMI Approved )

and they didnt want to look at the car just approved it over the phone - no hassles

verry impressed

we pay big money to insure our cars the service should be good

(problem is it so often is not)

What car do you have?

Usually AAMI doesnt touch imports, thats what Just cars is for. They are the same company anyway.

Just cars

1994 R33 GTS (full comp) = $2400!!!!!!!!!OMG IM BEING RIPPED

but they were the ONLY place that would touch my car

next year it will be $1700 and $1800 if i turbo it

BUT, if i throw a turbo on it this year they will only charge me and extra $8.00 weird huh???

EDIT: i forgot to mention im 17, so i guess it isnt that bad in the big scheme off things.

Price difference for my brand new Tiida:

Just Cars wanted like $2100 or something rediculous.

AAMI insured me for $1300.

I thought since I'm "Young" and "Just got my licence" (well not really) that Just Cars would offer a slightly more competitive premium.. oh well never mind.

That said the same story was present when I had my (import) RX7, JCI were heaps pricier than other quotes I had.

Maybe they just don't like me :(

JESUS, your 17 and paying 2400 a year...... what a waste of money!

When you have an accident and your at fault or it's not your fault and the other party isn't insured $2400 isn't a waste of money buddy, bent bits on a modified car add up pretty quickly, not to mention if its stolen or catches on fire. :)

im 25 did the quote with justcars using that same car

i have no bad records in the last 3 years??

am i missing something??

The suburb you live in and other aspects such as where the car is parked at your premises, lockable garage, carport, street ect all have an influence on the price of your insurance.

buddy... ? wasnt aware weve met? . my comment went straight over your head. insurance is very worth while but i dont see the sense in a 17 year old paying so much for insurance.. but at least he has it.

ps: thanks for the stating the obvious regarding the costs too. i had no idea// END SARCASM

MATE , he asked if he was missing something, so i informed him why his quote was different to the other guys. If you want to drive an import at the age of 17 thats the price you pay, your comment didn't go over my head BUDDY, if your going to post, make it of a constructive nature, thanks PAL// END OF SARCASTIC POST. :)

what are other people paying for insurance for R33 gtr's and what are your conditions. i got a quote for full comp for $2200 from just car insurance. thats a daily driver, with unlimited mods, im 25yo and a rating 1. my excess is $2000 for a prang.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
