lol. nice experience .. if i got cash in my pocket,i will mark around with there rb30 or 25 or 20s to build up a monster. forget about sr20s. . . lol

skyline is the best. even through i broke 3 already. ~ :)

thanks man,but this engine is pretty clean and got a rb25 turbo on it, i will think about upgrade to rb25, but what the difference between rb20 and rb25? is it larger means better? thanks.

Thats an RB20 turbo.

So that means that an "RB25 turbo" is not a reason you have to stay with an RB20 :D

Unless your not talking about this engine

never got a chance to know this turbo is rb20 or 25, i just been told it's rb25's turbo by the guy that sold the car to me, sorry for my ignorance. :/ otherwise would beat him down..

Edited by vcool

still, chase after him and beat him down

theres nothing like the satisfaction of beating someone who has done the dodgy on u

there are soooooo many diff things u can do man, just go with what ur heart and wallet says

(a rb30/25 would be cool, but maybe u can only afford a rb20, u no what i mean)

I vote to throw another cheap rb20 in.

Strip the bits off yours than you can. erm.. that would be only the oil pump, maybe the cams if they are not damaged. :(

Rip the cams out, be sure to follow the engine manual as how to do it.. What would you want for them? I'll send them off to get tested to make sure they are straight, I have a use for them.

Yep, remove them nice and careful, caus it's not a nice sound when u hear one go 'crack' :P

P.S andy (bunta on these forums) may have a complete RB25 for sale, chuck him a PM and ask :(

as i originally posted 3 days ago, lots of people have read my story, this is my last post before i end up with a final decision, your help is appreciated, thanks.

as i have no mechanic beckground, need some key words for parts searching and any relevant infor (like what needs to be changed or whats not),thanks heaps.

Hi mate , this is what you call dropping valves. Looks as though you are up for one piston , maybe a conrod if it has distorted , a set of mains and big end bearings because you will have the crank out, a quick crank polish and measure , if bore is lightly damaged a light hone or a bore out and then you will be up for a set of pistons and expensive machine work of boring all 6 cylinders. New gasket set complete .The head needs 4 new valves, guide work( i am not familiar with this engine so I do not know if head has guides. If so you might get away with slipping 4 new ones in. If you have not then head will be machined to accept guides. I could go on more but when you start something like this the more you go into it the more there is to fix if you want it done properly .Most important with this repair is to fix the CAUSE.

IM a mechanic with no Skyline experience but this engine works exactly the same as whats in Cat dump truck to Porsche 930. I hope I could help with some of the jargon.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
