they only run partially at idle to stop flowing at the full rate when its not needed.

how did it go fitting in the 33gts-t?

does the whole assembly slide in or did u just have the pump and fit it onto the gts-t standard bracket?

I just had the pump, i didnt install it. From what i gather the mechanic that installed it just used the standard bracket.

If you dont like loud pumps i reccomend giving a 34 gtr pump a miss, i may replace it with something else in the near future!

thanks for that.

i have the whole r34 gtr assembly, the pump comes with a thick rubber surround, im pretty sure that would keep it quiet. if he fitted it to the stock bracket chances are its metal on metal to make it fit in a near standard position.

i have a bosch pump which is touching the bottom of the tank, but i installed it with rubber everywhere ie no metal on metal, and its only just louder than stock, not noticeable unless u are really listening to it.

  • 6 months later...

Ive just installed a GTR pump. Quite noisy but then again I only have about 10L of fuel in the tank. Can hear it wirring away. Might take it out one day and put some rubber around the pump in between the hose clamp.

I was worried the pump might be on the way out but it seems that a few people seem to find them noisy.

I tried to keep it from resting on the tank but it was pretty tight in the R33gtst. Its a sedan so I'm not sure if the tank is a different shape.

Anybody pulled them out to put rubber in there and found it reduces the noise?

Thanks

Buzzing - depending on how loud it is - 1 person's loud is another person's quite.

Either nitrile rubber or EFI hose.

You can buy big EFI hose and slit it. Cheapest nitrile rubber (never had a problem with it decomposing) is buying a pair of nitrile rubber gloves from supercheap auto. About $10. I just cut them up and use that.

I still say no rubber is required. I dont' have rubber, my pump sounds the same as any gtr pump in a gtr.

The only time i've ever used rubber is when i was doing something special. not just a normal hose clamped pump install.

Nah, I'm pretty sure the rubber is different. Radiator hose is water only.

Cheapest option (won't cost ya anything) is to grab some of that hose that came iwth the cradle, slit that, and put it in.

Have you put that extra clamp in yet?

Have you put in a new tank seal yet?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
