My 32gtr seems to have lost the love to drive nicely or it just absolutely hates brisbane roads.

In the past couple of months I have time after time done alignments because of bad steering. I have taken it to a reputable suspension factory and they have told me various things about my issues.

My issues are:

1: When i drive my steering "jumps" around a lot and seems to tram-track the road always.

2: My left hand tyre is bald now and the right one is coming down quickly.

The reputable suspension company told me that my lower ball joints are worn and needs replacement. This seems like a fair comment as he showed me where this part was and how it affected my steering.

Does anyone else have any ideas that can satisfy my hungry mind to fix my problems? Is there any other place on the steering that can cause issues like mine?

Thanks you and enjoy

excess bumpsteer can also be caused by excessive lowering

what is the centre of rim to guard height?

No idea mate, I would have to check it out in the morning. I know its lowered because its not as high as stock gtr. There is a slight camber to the wheels. As far as I know, there isnt any camber adjustment parts, pretty sure they are stock.

i have this same problem in my 33 gtst. i got a hicas lockout bar thinking it would fix my problem . . eeeerrrrr . . . WRONG!!!

had a suspect ball joint fixed . . . eeeeerrrrr . . . WRONG!!!

the suspension place im going to atm are "reperable" but its spent 3 days there n they still have no idea?

Mate i have a friend who reckons its the wheel bearings at the front, worn out. check that out mate, thats what im going to check on mine.

tram-tracking won't be helped by worn out tyres, particularly tyres that are worn unevenly. Wider tyres are more prone to tram-lining, and uneven or low tyre pressures can also contribute to the problem.

anything in the steering system that has any play in it will allow a wheel to move slightly and steer the car causing these kinds of probelms. Ball joints, tie rod ends, the steering rack itself, control arm or castor rod bushes...

if the ball joints are worn, start by replacing them. Even if it doesn't fix the tramlining, it still needs to be done. If all the steering components are OK and the wheel alighment is fine, get some new tyres and see if that improves things.

are 235 wide tyres excessively wide and likely to contibute to tram lining?

is it possible that wheel beaings will cause the problem?

the problem has been slowly developing over the past 3 years.

also, there is a shudder when i brake which i think is related to this movement in the front end (i have had discs machined, wheels balanced)

appreciate any thoughts

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
