The 1st one is the 1st part of 改造 which in the car world means modified. Can also be read as 'I wish I was a Skyline'

改 thats what i thought it was too. but the strokes look totally different . . .

edit: after studying my kanji dictionay for a good 30 minutes i guees it is that one..

Yea, it's 改 (kai). Basically, it means "change" or "reform". Note that there's no "-ed" in japanese, so it could jolly well by "changed" or "reformed" too.
