the fcon sz pro i think it is, is pretty good, much like most of the hks ecu stuff but the problem is there are no local tuners, so you need to be in sydney and you only have like 1 or 2 tuners so they can charge you any price and give you any level of service they wish and you have no choice, you cant just walk away and go see someone else.

if there were lots of hks tuners in australia, sure go for it, but dont bother in australia, unless u have unlimited money, then if you do buy motec

Not entirely true about the pricing... but I guess your concern Paul is very valid (per case application I guess)

I've had my car tuned twice now with the F-CON and both times the pricing has been extremely competitive when compared to elsewhere.

PM me if you want definite prices; think your mind might change afterwards.

They're one of the only places I know of that guarantees their tuning... if anything stuffs up they tune it back for you without question.

But true, the towing from interstate if a problem occured would be a nightmare.

"I've had my car tuned twice now with the F-CON and both times the pricing has been extremely competitive when compared to elsewhere"

were did you get this done what sort of tune did you get

i.e full tune or tidy up of a jap tune?

Ive been told that BD4's can not tune f-cons and they have a capboard full of ones they've removed from cars

I love to have been told the wrong info as my bosses gtr has one fitted and another 2 tough jap cars I know of have one fitted aswell

Whoever has told you that BD4s cannot tune the F-CONs is full of it... they are the ONLY people in AUS who can and will tune the F-CONs.

You need to be a registered HKS Pro Dealer to even have the Power Writer software and BD4s is one of them.

Thomas Lee is their tuner and he knows his stuff... definitely worth giving him a call and talking to him. He'll give you his time as well unlike many other places who hurry to finish the calls.

What type of tune did I get? Well the F-CON V Pro came off a R34GTR so the tune was not compatible (not that I would have used it anyway) so I needed it tuned from nothing. Unlike the PFC there is no "base map" everything needs to be done from scratch.

My second tune was when I installed injectors etc etc... Most tuners would just modify their existing map - Tom did it from scratch again.

Both tunes lasted about 10hours each, and each time I've paid what most would expect to pay for a full PFC tune which I've seen done in even 1/3 of the time.

Not going to start another debate about how good/bad F-CONs are but consider why most high HP cars from Japan use it over the PFC... also consider why a seemingly "piggyback" system would be preferred over a "standalone" ECU.

I was sceptical to start off with too... but after talking to Tom, seeing it done, and driving my car - I'm converted. Talk to silver r32gtst from here, he's running one too.

I was previously using the fconv but am now using a power fc pro...

to me the flexibility of being able to choose my tuner is a big advantage...

i personally did not have a good experience with bd4s and would not go there again... although im sure other people are more than happy with thier service...

additional costs with the fcon are getting it wired in which has to be factored in as well

just some thoughts

    • Thank you for the feedback bro. Looks like it’ll have to stay off the road till it gets an ecu
    • Only if you do not You will not be able to drive it with any serious load without risk of it pinging, which will either slowly or rapidly kill it, depending on how bad it is.
    • Hi guys, I’m new to the GTR scene. Picked up an R33 GTR earlier this year that needs a lot of love. I’ve been going through the hot side, changing all the gaskets and while it was all off I managed to score a set of -9s. It still had the stock ceramics so I was pretty happy to get the 2860s.  I live in a small country in the pacific with 0 performance car scene. No dyno’s no performance parts, let alone stock parts for a skyline. I order everything from Australia and do it myself. This means I’ll be running the stock ECU. Maybe down the track I’ll get an aftermarket set up and do a remote tune.  Will the car run -9s on stock tune safely?  I have a very heavy foot so I really hope so 😂   thanks guys
    • perfect, no rush to address the leaking bush then, it's not doing much/anything
    • I'm not sure if it will bolt up, but.... I'm reasonably sure that the ID of the runners is somewhat smaller on the NAs. So it probably wouldn't be a good match at the flange where the top and bottom meet. So that would be a reason to not do it. And the skinny runners would be the bit you're keeping, which would be a reason to no do it. You'd want the big runners if you were doing any work to swap stuff. Why not just use what you've got, like nearly everyone else who has +T'd an NA? You don't need or want the TCS throttle or other stuff that is specifically DET inlet/crossover.
