AFAIK, winding up the revs in Neutral and slamming it into Drive or 1st wouldn't be too healthy for the autobox.

Best thing to do with any auto (and this applies to all cars) is left foot on the brake, then gradually push down on the accelerator until it's just about to creep off, then when the lights change let go of the brake and nail the accelerator.

In the Stagea, you'll build boost because you're putting the engine under load, and you shouldn't have any traction issues because you have ATESSA all-wheel-drive. :D

BTW: SAU does NOT condone street racing, keep it to the track. The stupid amounts of money you'd end up paying in fines for street racing (not to mention the risk you create for yourself and others) could easily pay for a trackday where you can pretty much do just about anything you want in a safe environment.

hey, are the bonnets for the 1998 models the same as R34's?

im making a list of stuff to buy at the same time as the car.

and im guessing the offset etc... for the rims are the same as the GTR's being they are the same driveline...

also where can i see kits, carmate doesnt have them and im in bendigo so i gotta see websites...

R34 bonnets are nothing alike, regardless of if you pick an s1 (1996 to October 1998) or s2 (November 1998 to 2000) Stagea...

Offset is the same as R33 GT-R, I believe. Just make sure that if you're getting an AWD Stagea, that you get the same size wheels and tyres on the front and rear of the car, or you'll burn out the clutch packs in the transfer case, leading to expensive repairs.

For kits, talk to Chris at "AMS", who's getting Nismo kits via Monkey Warehouse... He used to own a Stagea, and then sold it to FLYSLY to buy an S13.

wicked, well i know a few places do it, but does anyone know any car yards that i can buy the car from and say add on these rims, this kit, this bonnet and add on a few grand?? they tried to do it with my celica but they wouldnt do a kit...

unless anyone has a series 2 neo 6 tiptronic with a kit and rims for sale that i can afford...

and yes, if i could buy your manual i would... depends if i get this new job ($70k a year)

With mention of Calder, I'm assuming you're in Melbourne, right? In that case I can't help you out with a dealership, 'cause I simply wouldn't have a clue considering I'm in Sydney. Try grabbing a copy of HPI, Zoom, or some other local magazine and ring up a few dealers who advertise to see what they'l do for you. I think you'd probably be able to find stuff cheaper if you do your own shopping, because the dealers will probably want to add their own margin to whatever they order for you.

I doubt you'd beat an R33 GTSt, even if it's standard - unfortunately the Stagea is 200+ kilos heavier than a Skyline, and that is its biggest burden and probably the only thing all Stagea owners hate about their cars.

If you were to drag race when at Calder, then you might have a good chance of getting the R33 off the line (due to traction), but beyond that the weight starts to take its toll. Around a track wouldn't be much different, and quite probably worse the further you got around the track...

coolness, just i had a lot of trouble getting a kit on my celica (only got the front on... and im selling it soon)

it would be a drag, i wont be using it on the track... i would have thought the extra power from the Neo 6 would compensate for it...

anyway ill keep an eye out for a modded one already that looks good.

ill have more noob questions soon too lol...

they are not too hard but you need the cover piece like one of the other members on here has to cover the big holes it leaves in the roof

andys got some cover strips for sale for i think 26 grand and he will throw in a free stagea lmao (broking fees expected andy lol)

THought brads enigne is going into a VL and the stag was being reverted to (nearly) stock...?

oh hold up... isnt he just stepping back to a stadard RB26 (LOL @ stepping back) instead of the JUN built engine?

OK.. jays is the fastest RB25 powered stagea in the southern hemisphere and i wish it was mine... lol

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
