AirStrike
Two quick questions, im using the R33 GTS-t calipers on my VN SS and am wondering: 1) What torque are the 4 bolts that hold the two halves of the caliper together done up to? 2) Where can you get a caliper rebuild kit from? I have tried AutoBarn, AutoOne and Nissan them selves (this was bullshit, guy said cause its an import model they cant get them ) Cheers Dave Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/146328-question-on-r33-gts-t-calipers/ Share on other sites
GTRgeoff
I just went through the manual and can't find any detail on the torque specs. Since the caliper is alloy I'd leave it for a brake specialist but doubt even they would disassemble this part unless absolutely necessary. For the rebuild kit try www.racebrakes.com.au Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/146328-question-on-r33-gts-t-calipers/#findComment-2732325 Share on other sites

Why is everything to do with a Skyline so difficult!? Thanks for the tip, see what they have to say. GTRgeoff
You shouldn't need to unless doing a hone. The pistons come straight out. Use a block of wood in between to stop them coming all the way and use compresed air to blow them out. One of the easiest jobs yet rarely done. Yeah I know how to get the pistons out, I have all ready reco'ed the rears. Holden stuff is so much easier. Can get the rebuild kit from just about anywhere, and is a piece of piss to work on. GTRgeoff
I could offer a best engineering guess but need to know what material the treads run into. Is it ally or a steel insert? PMATT
The nissan 4 pot calipers can be split and there is a channel seal there which stops the fluid leaking when the fluid is travelling from one caliper half to the other .Some 4 pot calipers are monoblock which means 1 piece but these have a external "bridge pipe" which is at the end of the caliper and transfers the fluid from 1 half of the body to the other..The Nissan 4 pot calipers have 4 x 40mm pistons and should be cleaned in metho or water not fuel or thinners which will cause the rubbers to swell. The caliper kits come with the channel seals ,piston seals, and boots.Give Race Brakes Sydney a ring he has them in stock 02 9609 1101. Thanks heaps mate. I didnt think there would be a problem with pulling them apart, other wise they wouldnt make them that way.
