Hi

like the title says, my headunit has no power.

This arvo i cut the 3 wires running from somewhere( i assume my headunit) to my antenna.

I realised that i couldnt do what i wanted to, so i just reconnected the 3 wires. Now my headunit hasnt got any power :S

What gives, how could this happen when all i did was cut the wires and rejoin them to the exact same place. Do i need to disconnect and reconnect my car battery :S

Hmmm.. 3 wires to your antenna sounds a little odd, can you get a picture of it. Should be a standard aftermarket stereo antenna plug to your nissan diversity antenna plug.

As for power to head unit, take out the headunit, and use a tester on the yellow and red wire. You should get power on the yellow constantly, and red on accessories.

If not, trace this back and check your accessory fuses.

Okay so black is ground, Red is accessories, i'm not entirely sure what the green/red is and why it has been spliced?

But anyhow, get a testing light and check the red for power when you switch to ignition/accessories.

Which fuse should i be looking for? I looked at the one labled "ST" i assume that was my headunit, but it was intact.

Oh and now my clock is really really dark when i have my headlights turned on.

EDIT: green/red is the signal wire which makes the aerial go up and down

Under the R34 on mine, it's just labelled ACC and it's a 10amp. So hunt around see if any others are blown.

If your clock is dark when the headlight is on, then it's most likely another fuse. Check to see that your cigarette lighter ring still lights up when you have your headlamps on.

Is that one of the fuses located under the dash?

I have checked most of them under there.

When i leave my lights on my car beeps to tell to turn them off. Now the beep is very quiet and the car beeps 3 times, each time the beep gets quieter until it goes away. Perhaps it is earthing somewhere ?? :S

Green/red wire is the illumination wire when u turn your park lights on

Green/red wire is the illumination wire when u turn your park lights on

check the fuses in the engine bay under the plastic cover, instruments or park lights,

ther are also fuses in the boot and a circuit breaker which says "audio" the furthest on back

"Green/red wire is the illumination wire when u turn your park lights on"

Im pretty sure that its not the illumination. THis is because once we cut that wire, the aerial stopped going up and down. We did this a couple of months ago and the car has been fine since (until i cut those wires)

    • Yep that's pretty much what I want to see. Racecars that look and sound like the Group A but with newer tech underneath to make them faster and safer. I'm sure there's enough VK-to-VN commodore, E30 BMWs and Foxbody mustangs shells around to make up a decent number of cars with hopefully a couple of sierras, rx7 and R31s in there too.
    • Contact Jessestreeter.com/Skevas Racing/JustJap for a new r34 rb gearbox or go a cd00# conversion. No point playing with unknown condition gearboxes.
    • Such a shame places like Amaroo Park have been redeveloped, smaller tracks always make for good racing. Cheers for sharing @PranK there's some good Lakeside video's too. Its so hard with older the cars as parts are so rare and everything was made for a particular chassis at that point in time. Even the V8 Supercar Blueprint era cars are all different between each chassis within a team as they learnt things and made improvements. The COTF cars between each Chassis builder is different too especially motor/oil systems/intakes. The Group A stuff is worth so much too especially chassis with good history. The only way to do it would be composite panels and similar engine drivelines to the original cars. Ford sierra running Focus RS driveline, Commodore running a short stroke LS/LT or a Falcon with coyote and a H Pattern dog box. Could use a standard ecu across all models with a Torque Map and DBW for parity which is not even used in Supercars currently. Hell a TCM is almost a full chassis car these days and the suspension is not even close to standard style in the front running cars.

    • Wish someone would start a racing series for Group A replica cars, a bit like Touring Car Masters but for 1985 onwards and not grandpa's falcon and/or Monaro. I know they race in some historic class but that's for original cars, no replicas allowed.
